Making Your Voice Heard (Catholic Seminarians Protesting Kerry Harangued By Drunk Dems)
The Meandering Mind of a Seminarian ^ | 10/9/2004 | "Drchrist"

Posted on 10/11/2004 7:22:48 AM PDT by Rutles4Ever

When we got outside, the Sergeant informed us that we were free to do and say whatever we wanted outside, as long as we did not enter the building. We decided that we would do exactly what we were going to do inside, namely, provide a silent and prayerful witness to the sanctity of all human life and to challenge Senator Kerry to live his Catholic faith.

We split up to cover both entrances to the building, and we commenced our pro-life witness. As people entered the building they hurled insults at us, and one person tore up one of our signs and proclaimed that we were nothing but a bunch of “pedophile hookers.” She was a great representative for the Kerry/Edwards supporters; she showed us what “tolerance” – a supposed virtue of Kerry supporters – is all about.

As the time for Senator Kerry’s arrival drew near we moved to the rear of the building where the motorcade would approach and where he would enter. The secret service did not let us get to close, yet we were close enough for him to read our signs. After he arrived and entered the building we returned to the entrances so we would be there as the people left the building.

When the event was over Kerry supporters poured out of the building just as fast as the obscenities and ridicule poured out of their drunken mouths (yes, many of them were rather intoxicated). We were hailed as pedophile hypocrites who needed to clean our own house before we tell them what to do. We were accused of being the scum of the Catholic Church and homosexuals. We were accused of harboring criminals and being oppressive of women and African Americans. We had some “homosexuals for Kerry” stand in front of us and make out…that was a great photo-op for many of the Kerry supporters. Needless to say it was a very ugly scene, but during it all we remained calm and prayerful – which infuriated them all the more.

A few good things happened too. We were thanked by the police and security for not causing a scene inside. They were very impressed with our silent witness. Clearly they would not have needed to deny us entrance. The only people who caused any disruption the whole evening came from the Kerry supporters themselves.

We finally wrapped things up about 11:30pm. We were all worn out from the experience, but I would do it again in a heartbeat. Long live Christ the King.

Please keep these men and women in your thoughts and prayers. They are truly on the front lines of the abortion issue, and have far more courage than I can attest to.

A note to non-Catholics: The very good news is that, anecdotally, these are evidently the new generation of priests (or candidates to priesthood) entering our seminaries. In a few years, we hope that the new wave of orthodox priests begins a visible change in the Church...

As a fundamentalist evangelical (Church of Christ) I am continually reminded by events such as this one that regardless of any doctrinal differences I may have with my Catholic brothers and sisters, in the real world our differences are minuscule when compared to the values we share and our view of what is politically moral All Glory and Praise to the Lamb that was slain

Thank you for that post. Ultimately, we are all for Christ and we are all fighting the same enemy. And to paraphrase the Saviour, "If they are not against us, then they are for us..."

Forgive my ignorance. "Ping" and "Bumb" I understand as "support without adding additional comments". But what the devil is "Bttt"? It sounds like "Disagree without comments". Any help on this one?

Thanks for the post. One recommendation for future activities: be sure to have one person designated to videotape everything that happens - with someone to shield the videotaper from violence! Would have been good if you were able to capture that "tolerant" Kerry supporter who tore up one of your signs.

Thank you for saying that. I have a lot of Evangelical friends and we have had no problems working together on common interests. I have found that "ecumenicism" or friendship among Christians of different denominations doesn't have to mean giving up most of what you believe in until you reach the lowest common denominator, which is what liberals mean by the word.

The abortion struggle, in particular, has shown us how much Catholics and Evangelicals have in common, and how much can be gained by working together in areas where we share common beliefs.

Has anyone EVER heard of such treatment of protesters at a BUSH/CHENEY event?

There may be some taunts and words exchanged, but it seems that its always those on the demoncrat side who use the foul language, the physical abuse, etc. What we NEVER hear, is ANY apology from the leaders of the demoncratic party.

Whoever that woman is in the first picture with the "My abortion hurt me"-sign has a lot of strength. I give her mad props for that.

They should be selling those t-shirts like crazy instead of "I had an abortion" one's from PlannedDeath-hood

God bless these brave witnesses for truth.

The modern Democratic Party elevates debauchery and perversion as something noble.

Did you hear what Congreewoman Meek said in a church with Kerry present???

And local icon Carrie Meek — who in 1992 became one of the first three black members of Congress from Florida since Reconstruction and is the mother of current U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek — told parishioners that Kerry needs black support to make up for what happened in 2000.

"He's fighting against liars and demons. That's what he's doing," she said.

As a brother in the Churches of Christ, I can honestly say that we are indeed an unheard group in this country. Yet, this is the time and place for that to change. Perhaps we should stop 'preaching to the choir' and begin to voice our opinion outside the sanctuary. Loud and Proud!!!
