Caviezel Helps to Get Out the Vote!
Family News ^ | October 11th, 2004 | Steve Jordahl

We're used to seeing liberal movie stars getting political—now a conservative from Hollywood is asking you to vote.

In a rare conservative push from Hollywood, Jim Caviezel — the man who played Jesus in "The Passion" — has produced a streaming e-mail campaign to encourage millions of Christians to register now and to vote in November. The crusade is being organized by Redeem the Vote.

The message is simple: "Hi, I'm Jim Caviezel. Please register to vote and cast your ballot on November 2."

Randy Brinson of Redeem the Vote said it is rare for a conservative movie star to be heard above the din of liberal actors.

"He's gone out and taken a risk," Brinson said, "[and] taken a stand for Christ. I think it's imperative that we as Christians rally behind him . . . All the energy that was put into "The Passion" to get people mobilized, to get people energized to understand what out Savior did for us, that needs to be turned in to action."

Caviezel's message has been e-mailed to millions of potential conservative voters, who simply need to open the e-mail to hear his plea. Peter Brandt, senior director of government and public policy at Focus on the Family, is impressed.

"I think it will be very effective," Brandt said. "This is a tremendously creative way to reach out to people and remind them of the importance of voter registration and of voting."

He said it's a message the real Jesus would endorse as well.

Prior to enlisting Caviezel, Redeem the Vote had already registered close to 50,000 voters on their Web site and at Christian concerts. Brandt, meanwhile, said it's not enough just to register — you have to also show up at the polls on November 2.

Brandt also added that the voter registration deadline in almost all states is coming up very soon — so don't miss your chance to vote. TAKE ACTION: Focus on the Family has created a voter registration Web site called iVoteValues.org.

The site offers a step-by-step method to help you when you go to your local board of elections office.

"I'm in the San Diego area...I wish we had it here.."

Just keep your freeper-ears open about July or so of 2005.
My best guess is that if there is a repeat, there will be posts about it then.

for now, here's a link to the inaugural event:
http://www.libertyfilmfestival.com

And for transport: just do the reverse of what I did to meet up with my brother and
sister-in-law at the Town-and-Country in San Diego (for a science meeting)...
take the Amtrack train from San Diego to LA's Union Station, then catch a bus
to the event (out of Patasourus Station adjacent to Union Station).

I suspect you MIGHT almost make a day-trip of it.

I've heard he's going to be the next Superman.

The same guy playing both Jesus and Superman? What a career!

to encourage millions of Christians to register now and to vote in November.

Somebody has to counter the democrat efforts - hardly even disguised anymore - for voter fraud....just Googleize (news) Bonnie Garcia, the Cat City-based Republican state Assemblywoman; she's on a mission (probably dead end, given that this is California) to get the multiple registrations of illegals halted.

Isn't it too late to register to vote? Seems this message should have been delivered last month or earlier.

I'd trade my *entire rib cage* for a Conservative Woman, anyday.

Keep the faith, amigo! When it happens it'll be an ultra-orgasmic (can I say that here?) moment.

After just a couple of dates, knowing my priorities, I broached the subject of politics with my now wife of 25 years; turns out she's more conservative than I am, so it was a lock from then on.....never had an argument yet, and sure as hell not about politics!
