The point being that Michael could have stopped treatment any time he wanted to and nothing the Schindlers could have done would have changed that.. He chose to give Terri's parents opinion's an impartial hearing in court because of their objections and he decided to allow a judge to make the determination on what Terri would have wanted. By Fl. Law however, he did not have to do so. As Terri's legal guardian he could have made an arbitrary decision at any time to discontinue treatment. If he had to do it again, he'd probably tell the Schindlers to go to Hell.
