Carville on Today: W Flops Like "Dying Fish;" Katie Frets over Sinclair Documentary Broadcast
The Today Show | governsleast governsbest

Posted on 10/12/2004 4:40:41 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Working hand in glove, the Kerry campaign and their all-too-willing MSM cohorts took their new message out for a spin this morning.

During the "news" segment at the top of the air, notorious Norah O'Donnell claimed that W has "retooled" his campaign in response to "one poll" showing his approval ratings slipping.

And just a few minutes later, there was James Carville echoing the same theme. "Bush has had three different stump speeches in one week. This is a desperate campaign doing desperate things."

And in this time of international terror, where surely Al-Qaeda's #1 target is President Bush, Carville had the class and grace to depict W as flopping around like "a dying fish."

For good measure, Carville claimed that "Bush isn't smart enough" to defeat Kerry in a debate.

Condescending to his counterpart Tucker Eskew of the Bush campaign, Carville hauled out his insult from an earlier encounter, contemptuously dismissing the experienced Eskew (who was a senior aide on the '84 Reagan campaign) as a "young man," and suggesting yet again that W be permitted to sit in Dick Cheney's lap during the debate.

"You gonna lose Wednesday night, Tucker, get over it," concluded Carville, by way of 'analysis.'

For his part, Eskew stuck to the issues, pointing out that Kerry has called into question his own toughness on terrorism with his remarks about global tests, his description of terrorism as a law-enforcement matter, and most recently with his terrorism-as-nuisance comment.

In this age of Rathergate, the ABC memo urging reporters to be tougher on Bush than Kerry, and the non-stop Kerry infomercial that is The Today Show itself, could there be anything more laughable than the spectacle of Katie Couric decrying . . . pro-Bush media bias?

Yet there was the affable Eva, wringing her hands over the plans of the Sinclair broadcasting network to air an anti-Kerry documentary.

Carville mumbled darkly about "some right-wing guy, who can't get over the fact that his guy is losing." Carville then repeated the mantra about "desperate people doing desperate things, three stump speeches in one week," blah, blah, blah.

Without showing weakness, Eskew was a perfect gentleman. But that didn't stop Katie from lumping together the odious Carville and the utterly decent Eskew. Thus, she closed by proclaiming:

"You're both pretty good at hurling insults. I'm going to have to get out of this sandbox."

Katie could interview Bobby Knight and Mother Theresa and conclude: "There's a lot of anger in this room. I think you both need to calm down. Back to you Matt."

Gollum [Carville] doesn't have any class, nor grace.

The " " around class and grace went without saying.

"Bush has had three different stump speeches in one week"

SO? I give 3 different presentations a week, does that mean I lie?

I liked Carville better when he was The Smashing Pumpkins' frontman. Whenever I see or hear him, all I can think is, "God bless Mary Matalin." She deserves sainthood for putting up with this clown.

Carville, Serpent head idiot from the South..I am Southerner and can not for the life of me understand how this freak ever made it out of here alive. Also, Matlin must be a woman of much grace to put up with this freak from day to day.

It is incredible, they are so scared of the public hearing what Kerry said and did 30 years ago.

They understand how fragile their protection of his record really is. They understand what the truth can do to Kerry's hope of winning the White House.

I just saw Senator Dick Durbin's performance on ABC with Die-an Sawyer. He was practically pounding his shoe on the table, demanding prior restraint and threatening government prosecution. What a bunch of statesman that Illinois has generated lately!

The VP from Sinclair broadcasting, Hyman, held his ground, at the end both Sawyer and Durbin were talking over him, and Hyman's mike was finally cut so Durbin could advocate prior censorship of the media.

Ya'know, if Serpenthead had just ignored this show, nobody would have known about it. Now it's gonna be Tivo and bittorrent time for it.
