The camera updates
every five minutes. Some shots
show lots of orange flame!

Could that be a reflection of the sun?

I believe you are seeing yellow sunrise colors on the steam clouds. The lava dome that is being pushed upwards is well below the top of the mountain -- any lava will be well below the yellow you are seeing.

I've been watching for about 30 minutes and I can't tell if it's magma or if it's a reflection of the sun. Nothing on CNN as of yet.

I do not think so.
I've watched a couple of snaps
and it looks like fire . . .
To: theFIRMbss
The sun is just coming up. That's about it.

Magma! Hahahaha! Sheesh. That's Mt. Saint Helen's cheddar cheese filling escaping, ya big silly! Man, the ideas people get in their heads.

FOX was reporting on some hot spots that are around 500 degrees but no mention of lava.

"This is an image of Mount St. Helens, taken from the Johnston Ridge Observatory. The Observatory and VolcanoCam are located at an elevation of approximately 4,500 feet, about five miles from the volcano. You are looking approximately south-southeast across the North Fork Toutle River Valley."
Possibly.

I like how the sun reflects off of only one cloud. Typically, sunrises are not limited to a single cloud.

Could be sun, I guess.
I'm gonna feel pretty dumb
if that's all it is.

In post 5, they say
they've been watching for thirty
minutes. I don't think
illumination
would be steady in one spot
for that long, would it?

Please Lord direct the magma away from Castle Lake and the 10 lb Rainbow trout. Amen. (Off my high mountain lake fisherman's knees/wiping tears out of my eyes)
