"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can exist only until voters discover that they can vote themselves largesses from the public treasury. From that time on, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.

"The average age of the world's great civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness; from selfishness to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependency; from dependency back again to bondage."

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I remember Jim Quinn here in Pittsburgh had that quote recited a long time ago and I've been looking for it ever since and the person who said it. Thanks again.

I think we are moving to dependency myself, well, if FrankenKerry gets in, with all the welfare he wants to pass out, I rest my case.

And his wife, her emminence (her grace?) the Countess Chocolad. And of course, we can't forget Counsel SueBerry.

Okay, lame attempts at humor.

I hope I can finish "Domestic Enemies" before it's overtaken by events.

Foreign Enemies, the third book, is where the weakened President invites in UN "peacekeepers" to restore federal control over rebellious western and southern states.

(The UN peacekeeper "volunteers" will be eager to sign up, having been promised fast-track US citizenship, and free land.)

Other thoughts?

I believe we're past the "tipping point." The Titanic has hit the berg, but the realization has not yet dawned that the wounds are fatal. The band plays on, as we rearrange the deck chairs.

It will begin as a "Dirty War." Look at Argentina in the 1970s, Spain 1930s, Northern Ireland 1970s, El Salvador, Bosnia, Kosovo etc for clues.

You will NOT want to be in a minority party/race/class enclave anywhere near a large urban area! That will invite personal disaster.

"SUBTLE BUT SERIOUS: A lot of us have known for some time there was something wrong in the world but it was difficult to pin down and put our fingers on. It was something that has no face and no name. Like fog it swirled all around us but not being corporeal we lashed out in all directions, landing blows on nothing. It was like an itch we could never scratch." We used to call these people "the left," and still do I suppose, but many of those pushing this apparently "left-wing" agenda seem to be high-level statesmen, the wealthy and the heads of multibillion-dollar corporations"- David Carr - coining "Transnational Progressivism" (.pdf - 60 sec. download )

Agree........I have no suggestions other than to be very self reliant and aware. Our world is changing rapidly and not all of it is good.

Just my opinion of course........Stay safe !

Heh, good ones. All we need now to round out the crew is to find someone to play the roles of the "Yummy Mummy" and the "Frute Brute" we got a complete cast. B-) I remember those two cereals back in the 1970's, now long discontinued.

See them here: Grain Gods

Yeah, I know, seems like they just want us dead. If they are so concerned about "hate speech," I suggest they take a look in the mirror.

"If sKerry gets elected, look for a subtle or maybe not so subtle shift in the makeup of the armed forces. You saw some of the shape of things to come under the Klintoon administration. The Libs do indeed fear the current military"

Skerry wants tax payer money to fund more LE, which he will federalize (for security). Federal police, army of the left.

* Revocation of tax-exempt status for churches. * Fines and punishment for speaking publicly against leaders. * Fines and punishment for speaking publicly against protected constituent groups, incl. sermons referencing abortion and homosexuality. * Pledge of Allegience removed from all classrooms. * Federally-maintained list of suspicious "insurgents", known to hold beliefs at odds with the government and an impediment to the international vision. * Federal usurping of large chunks of industry, for our "protection". * Removal of our guns.

Sounds like the Turner Diaries scenario without the racist and anti-jewish slant.

I think it will be over gun confiscation.

It's looking grim admittedly. We will go off if they continue after guns etc.

They are angry period that Amerika may not stay on that 60s path they envisioned once.

We are better armed but they have most of the urban areas and a big chunk of some government forces etc.

"Teach Your Children Well"....I'm getting a newfound appreciation for deer camp...lol

PS: We shall prevail...if not in our lifetimes then one day but I fear fury shall pass first. Time for some Kipling.

CWII, if it happens, will be between those who want to preserve the Union and the Constitution, and those who want to destroy it and replace it with a new "progressive" order.

The way the world is alligning against us, all Americans with a shred of sense will understand that we must all hang together, or we will hang seperately. If the nation splits, we are doomed.

Therefore, I suspect that most of us Southerners, Conservatives, old fashioned Rebels, and so forth, will be fighting under Old Glory.

:)

But more significantly, we will signal to future presidents that as voters, we are unwilling to tackle difficult challenges, preferring caution to boldness, embracing the mediocrity that has characterized other civilizations. The defeat of President Bush will send a chilling message to future presidents who may need to make difficult, yet unpopular decisions.

Well said.........and the risk to the country are that high.

---> " I'm sure there are many Europeans just as miffed as we are at all of this "

I would estimate those at about 10-15% of the population - the part of the population which thinks for themselves (able to think critically) emigrated to English-speaking countries a long time ago... The percentages are higher in Eastern Europe (Poland, Hungary) because they are still smarting from recent Communist history.

Let there be NO apathy this year! The courts now rule and the lawyers are the barons, dukes, and duchesses of the new feudal system. If Kerry/Edwards should be elected, the control of the federal judiciary will belong to these statists, the control of more aspects of our lives will be taken and shaped in ways we won't like. We MUST rally behind the president.

I agree that this is a vitally important election -- one that could shape this country for the next few generations.

But I also realize that if Bush is reelected, in 2008 we will have the first presidential election since 1952 in which neither an encumbent president nor his vice-president is running for the office of the president. This is huge. Talk about an all-out no-holds-barred slug fest. We ain't seen nuthin' yet, if GWB is elected in November. It is my sincere hope he is, but it is my even greater hope that the Republicans nominate somebody who will simply blow Hillary out of the water in 2008. Cuz that's what it's gonna take.
