I feel the same way. That may well be my favorite movie of all time. You should read the book. It goes into a lot more detail about sgt Geoghan (the one who died trying to rescue his buddy form the field). It talks about his life, his wife and children and the way his death impacted the rest of their lives. It's hard not to cry even typing this.
By the way..the asian man that was burned so badly by the misdirected napalm...he didnt make it. From what I understand from my wife (she's a nurse) you usually dont make it with more than 25% of your body burned. Often they are conscious and talking and dont even realize that they are going to die shortly.
To see a movie like that and then to see that reprehensible Kerry running for commander in chief after spitting on those brave young men makes my blood boil.
