Anti-Kerry Film Causes Stir |
Tuesday, October 12, 2004
By J. Jennings Moss
NEW YORK Sen. John Kerry's presidential campaign blasted a decision by the Sinclair Broadcast Group (search) to air a documentary on Kerry's anti-Vietnam War activism, but a Sinclair official vowed to move forward Tuesday. The flap is over a one-hour program "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal (search)" featuring former prisoners of war accusing Kerry, a decorated veteran who took up the anti-war cause upon returning from Vietnam, of prolonging the war and worsening their plight. "If anybody has earned the right to speak about their experiences in Vietnam, it's these men," Sinclair Vice President Mark Hyman (search) told FOX News. "They suffered unspeakable horrors. They earned the right to be heard." The program likely will be broadcast between Oct. 21 and Oct. 24, depending on the city. According to Sinclair's Web site, the company has some connection to 62 stations from all the broadcast networks FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS, UPN and the WB in 39 markets and reaches 24 percent of U.S. television households. . |

If it wasn't true, Kerry would go on the broadcast to rebut it, he was asked by Sinclair, but he declined. They wouldn't fight it if it were nothing.

You gotta love those Kerry campaign officials. The more they protest, the more people will hear about the film and want to see it.

Wow! It's okay for liberal idiots like Michael Moore to fabricate anti-Bush films to help the Demcorats in their march for the White House while spreading them around the world in hopes of swaying public opinion, but god forbid that someone air a program that reveals true testimony about John Kerry by those who served with him and suffered as a result of his actions up returning from Vietnam..

I type this with a straight face, Kerry is actually FOR the evildoers.
I illustrate this in historical context in "Following Kerry's Lead" on my blog at http://therightunite.blogspot.com/

I saw the movie in its entirety tonight.
It is spectacular in content and presentation.
It is emotional and effective in its message - John Kerry is a liar and political opportunist, he betrayed our troops and our country.

Mpls (red)Star Tribune letters to the editor
Sinclair vs. Kerry
The Star Tribune, that vigilant guarantor of the First Amendment rights only for ideas it agrees with, has taken umbrage at the Sinclair Broadcasting Group's decision to mandate the broadcast of an anti-Kerry film on its stations. ("October surprise / Airing an anti-Kerry screed," Oct. 12). The editorial goes as far as to assert that airing it should place Sinclair Group's broadcasting license "in jeopardy."
It also asks the reader to "imagine that WCCO's owner, CBS, ordered it to broadcast Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11." That's an easy one: If WCCO aired Moore's anti-Bush screed, the Star Tribune would hail that broadcast as proper, necessary and, obviously, protected by the First Amendment.
Mark Griffin, White Bear Lake.
Voters need to know the personal history of the presidential candidates to make informed decisions. What John Kerry did 10, 20 or 30 years ago does have an effect on who he is seen to be today. Americans should be aware of how POWs were treated in Vietnam and how John Kerry's comments during that period may have been used by their captors.
I hope the Sinclair Broadcasting Group airs "Stolen Honor."
Thomas Chochrek, Edina.
I commend your editorial staff for its Oct. 12 editorial on a broadcast company's plans to run an anti-John Kerry film. Sinclair Group (to which I am thankfully not related!) has crassly violated the public trust given them with its FCC license "to serve the public trust." Sinclair is thumbing his political nose at that sacred trust.
Our Sinclair clan motto "Commit thy work to God" has also been violated since the publicly owned finite airwaves are a vital part of our God-given heritage. It is most pathetic to read the justification given by the Sinclair Group "that this is news that hasn't been in the news marketplace."
The Sinclair Group has strayed far from its ancient clan motto, as well as from the democratic patrimony of our nation.
The Rev. John H. Sinclair, Roseville.
KMWB-TV, Channel 23, should refuse the order from Sinclair Broadcasting to run "Stolen Honor."
As a member of our community, it should recognize that such a misuse of the public airwaves is out of step with Minnesota's values and proud political tradition.
Eric Kreidler, Minneapolis.
Conservative commentator Mark Hyman, vice president of Sinclair Broadcast Group, has claimed that John Kerry enlisted in the Navy to avoid the draft. Now that's sneaky!
Clayton Bennett, Minneapolis.
I don't consider myself aligned with a particular party, but I find it almost humorous that Democrats are fighting to have the anti-Kerry documentary pulled from airing.
Apparently it was more acceptable when Michael Moore did his own documentary.
Keith Bartram, Chanhassen.

"If anybody has earned the right to speak about their experiences in Vietnam, it's these men," Sinclair Vice President Mark Hyman told FOX News. "They suffered unspeakable horrors. They earned the right to be heard."
Ah, the very argument of the V.V.A.W. coming back to bite them.
To: Dr. Marten
I heard the Sinclair VP on the radio today and he has got - not brass, but titanium b***s.
He said that Ketchup Boy has been repeatedly asked to come on the Sinclair network and refuses, and that if he's scared of a mere television interview how can believe he's not to be scared of the terrorists when he gets in the White House?

The link, http://www.boycottsbg.com/ has both national advertisers and pull-down menus for regional advertisers. Don't forget the regional ones in your area. It also has a button to SUBMIT advertisers. For a while I noticed S Tuned Beebers Electronics on one and Viking Kitties Deli on another. But they managed to find them I guess and remove them. They are busy removing advertisers.
