I don't think so. Fox will run the Swiftvets show before CBS runs Michael Moore's.
I am actually disappointed that the FCC ruled so quickly...I was hoping for this to get drawn out. It helps us...the Courts would have turned over any unfavorable ruling against Sinclair in a New York minute...bringing further attention to the film...it would end up being the most viewed show in those markets.
No gov agency should stop it. The constitution guarantes freedom of the press.... and it doesn't have a fair and balanced requirement. What will stop CBS from doing it is the fact that the half of the nation with money will boycott them.
Didn't Mr. Hyman say on Foxnews that they are just playing excerpts of this film and discussing it?
The WB gets young voters pretty good.
F/9-11 appeals to no one but the Leftie base.
The Libs are afraid of this Swiftee/POW movie because it's been shown to have credibility with the masses.
I believe you are correct - they are using a news program formatting for it and have offered kerry to join them for his comments.
Hopefully the libs won't sue.
The FCC should have kept quiet until the day of the show's airing.
The Dems will be Judge shopping as we speak.
"Prior Restraint" requires a heavy legal burden to invoke, but with some judges, the fact that Dems are asking for it will mrrt that test. Look for a temporary restraing order and then an emergency appeal by Sinclair to the Circuit Court.
See, Sinclair released a statement the other day that said characterizations of the program were inaccurate....making it sound like they would not play the whole thing, just use it to discuss the issue.
I wish this kept up a little longer. This was great publicity for the documentary.
Hey, that's where I am! Let me know if you find anything out about it. I'm sure some enterprising freeper will be able to get the listing and post it for us.
It's news programming - on what grounds can they sue??????
this is historical information - footage from kerry's testimony before Congress and personal interviews with former POWs?
There has been no outcry about the Bush-bashing programming of the Sendance channels, and little of that could even remotely be classified as news programming.
Thanks. I did. This is great news! Actually this movie is getting great publicity!
If I understand it correctly, this will truly be a documentary of Kerry's actions. That being the case, it would hard for the FCC to block it's airing.
If it were a work of fantasy like Moore's product, I do think it would have been right for the FCC to take action.
I have mixed thoughts on that though. Perhaps letting the Moore 'stuff' air, would be the biggest slam of all for Kerry and Company. Most Americans would be highly offended by it's content and the reaction could be devistating to Kerry's efforts.
Does anyone know if Sinclair Broadcasting has an analog satellite feed?
They are finished.
Absolutely nothing and that's why this is so bad. We can expect ABC, NBC and CBS now to run Farenehype 9/11 as much as they want, assuming they can get around some distribution contract terms. This is not good news. Kerry is smiling and snaking that lizard tongue over this one.
