Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., relaxes with his puppy V.C., while stationed in the Mekong Delta in 1969, during the Vietnam War. Kerry named his "lucky charms" as his most prized possession _ his wedding ring, his dog tags andAP Photo/Courtesy of John Kerry Hummmm? He didn't marry his 1st heiress until 1970 --- they Honeymooned in Paris visiting the Viet Cong as I recall.

I think it means those items are his "lucky charms" now, notwithstanding the quote is accompanied by a photo from 1969. I doubt anyone was interviewing him in 1969 about those types of things.
