A President's Prayer
In The Beltway ^ | 10/15/2004 | John McCaslin

A fourth-generation logger from Montana, Bruce Vincent, was in tears when he walked out of the Oval Office. As executive director of Provider Pals, a youth cultural-exchange program, Mr. Vincent was among a small group of people invited to the White House on May 3 to receive the first Preserve America Presidential Awards. His first impression of President Bush: "a firm handshake and a look that can be described only as penetrating. Warm, alive, fully engaged, disarmingly penetrating." But then Mr. Vincent came face to face with a personal side of Mr. Bush that few have seen, particularly in the Oval Office — his spiritual side.

Tears in my eyes, too. I'm sure many of us on FR will be praying for Loretta as well.

Thank you for a lovely read to start the morning.

Thanks for the great post! I needed that this morning... Just another amazing example of how fine this man really is. Why is it so hard for so many people to believe we actually have a moral, ethical and upstanding man in the white house. Thanks Bill!

That made me cry too. I knew our president was a good man, I didn't realize he was a great one.

Yes. I read it to my wife this morning. All I could say was "now that is a President".

I think it is tough for him because he is a truly humble man who is not boastful...

Thank you for the post. How beautiful and peaceful. What a wonderful prayer embrace.
It makes it so much easier to pray for the man, knowing that he is a prayer warrior himself. I think our president begins his fights on his knees, praying.

I've read this before, but it doesn't lose its poignancy over time.

My husband sat and sobbed when he read it. Praise the Lord for this Godly President!

What a difference between the baby-killer and Bush the other night:

Kerry, in his I-am-Oz-the-great-and-powerful voice: I'm a Catholic, I was an altar boy, religion is important to me...

Bush: Uh, I pray a lot...

Guess who I think really does pray a lot.

There definitely is a Bruce Vincent at Provider Pals. Check out:

Scroll down to "How to Contact Provider Pals". All that Snopes has to do is give him a call.

What a wonderful story. I can believe it is true as my own Pastor is a friend of the President and his father. Everytime that he is in the White House he tells how humbled he is to be in the presence of George Bush. My Pastor is a great man in his own right and has been President of the So. Baptist Convention twice. My God answer out prayers to give this country another four years of this Godly man. I don't always agree with every thing that he has done, but his faithfulness to his God and his determination to keep us safe is enough for me.

If you want to be disgusted, go over to see the snotty comments on this article on DU. The hatred that they have for all that is good and holy is incredible.

In the debate, we saw the fundamentally godless character of the present Democratic Party.

I cannot stand to see such garbage. You are right it is disgusting the way that the dems trample on God.

I also meant to say that I would be a fool for Jesus any day and I am proud of my President that he feels that way too.
