I've heard of it too. An older lady that I knew would use this as she had already had ulcers from normal arthritis meds and couldn't take them.

"Some alternative therapies bring a smile to my face. One of them is the "arthritis martini," that is, the gin-soaked raisin. Gin-soaked raisins are said to be effective for the relief of pain. Five or six raisins added to a small amount of gin and eating the raisins on a daily basis is said to provide significant relief.
