Paul Crouch Wins Arbitration Ruling
Oct. 14, 2004 | TBN Release

Posted on 10/15/2004 8:10:08 AM PDT by pkajj

The American Arbitration Association Arbitrator, through Honorable Robert J. O'Neill, Judge Retired, submitted to the Orange County Superior court its final ruling that it has awarded Paul Crouch Sr., founder and president of the Trinity Broadcasting Network, $136,000 in legal fees from former TBN employee and convicted felon Enoch Lonnie Ford.

Ford, whose current whereabouts are unknown, violated an April 2003 court order that barred him from discussing his 1996 allegations of wrongful termination and sexual harassment.

"As a man of faith, I took the advice of advisors to avoid a long and costly court battle with Mr. Ford and reluctantly agreed to a $425,000 settlement. The fact that Mr. Ford abrogated the agreement and is now avoiding service of the court's process to hide from legal responsibility for his conduct is vindication for me, my wife and the entire TBN family," Paul Crouch Sr. explained

Just note that this is a TBN news release. They wouldn't be biased, would they? I like the reference to "former TBN employee and convicted felon Enoch Lonnie Ford."

How about telling us exactly why an innocent man would agree to pay $425,000 to a convicted felon?

Exactly. There's more to this story than simply Crouch "winning arbitration". This was released by TBN to make him look good, hoping some of their more idiotic viewers wouldn't read past the headline, and assume all the charges against him were false.

Let this be a lesson folks, while there may be a few "televangelists" that are genuinely for the Lord, most are con artists looking to scam you, and who have a multitude of other sins they still indulge in daily.

I think an innocent man who trusted his advisors would pay especially if that innocent man was a high profile person and his name being drug through such scandal would tarnish others around him. I can see him paying so that his family, friends and business wouldn't suffer from scandal. JMO.

Huh? Why would an innocent man pay ANYTHING but a visit to the local law authorities regarding a slanderous and libelous accusation by a former employee?

I'd put him behind bars so fast his head would spin.

I would NOT pay him a small fortune and then hope he didn't "lie" again.

The statement from one of Crouch's sons said it all: that he was going to have to face the horrible fact that is father is a homosexual.

Jan Crouch needs to stop the Tammy Faye drag and start interceding for her husband.

The same reason that many people 'settle' to avoid the costlier dollars of going to court. You been away for awhile or something?

I do think that you have the 'percentages' upside down, i.e. there may be a few 'televanglists' that are con artists ...

I'm not trying to be flippant here, but can you name me more than three who are clearly honest, upright people? And note, I'm talking about televangelists here, not just "preachers" or other "regular" people.

You note in another post that many "settle" out of court to avoid a lenghty, costly trial. While that may be sound business sense, when one's personal name is being dragged through the mud, don't you think that one should fight such charges? After all, what worth does a man have, if he has no good name? In all honesty.

On the contrary. I have been around long enough to know that it doesn't cost $425,000 to defend your honor in court. It does, however cost that much if you were really guilty of an act that could cost you your entire empire.

I concur, and I think Paul Crouch is now doing that. However, when this first came up I am sure that the 'thoughts' were beyond just himself, but had the entire TBN network in mind. i.e. it was not just his 'personal' name that was at stake when the first 'settlement' was agreed to.

blackmail is ugly - but until all facts are in, I am clearly on the side of Paul Crouch.

It is/was not just a matter of one's honor that this $425K was compared against, I am sure. There are a lot of donations that this network runs on to build it's world reach that I am sure were weighed in the decision making of paying this guy off.
