Your numbers for the E.C. are, of course, impossible. But you use the name "Ditka." Damned shame that Iron Mike did not jump in the race in Illinois. He would have had a real shot at willing.

There must have been some serious rough patches in his personal history that caused him to back away from the nomination. The Republican Party would have not only given him the nod, they would have torn down the goal posts and carried him on their shoulders the length of the state from the Chicago Loop to Cairo.

Plus, Ditka would have been a delight in the US Senate. Imagine a Senator who knows who he is, and speaks the plain truth as he sees it. It would have meant the end of government as we know it. And that would have been a terrific result.
