Apache Troop Family Readiness Group 1-7 Cavalry Division
Dear Sir or Madam, As the war in Iraq continues, we are calling on your generosity to support our deployed loved ones. Apache Troop, 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment left Fort Hood in March 2004 and will not redeploy until spring of 2005. Additionally, not all of the 135 Soldiers will be able to make it home for their "R&R" for the duration of the deployment. Obviously, this holiday season will be difficult for 1-7 CAV families both home and abroad. It is during this difficult time that our deployed loved ones need support the most. The Apache Troop Family Readiness Group (FRG) would like every Soldier to know that they are all important and supported by their country, local community, and FRG. The 1-7 CAV Family Readiness Group is attempting to start two "Soldier support" initiatives. First, we would like to send every Soldier in Apache Troop a Christmas package as part of Operation Cavalry Christmas. We are asking for donations so that we can purchase phone cards, t-shirts, socks, snacks, and Christmas items. The other initiative is to have a redeployment celebration as part of Operation Home Sweet Home, when they return next year. Operation Home Sweet Home will include single Soldier gift bags (shaving kits, deodorant, laundry detergent, and other household items) and a family celebration, including a dinner and children's activities. With the current "Soldier support" initiatives that the FRG has undertaken (i.e. routinely mailed care packages), such a celebration will be difficult to accomplish without your support. It is our hope that you, as caring Americans, can donate as much as you see fit to support our soldiers during this difficult time. If you choose to donate, please note if you would like your donation to go towards Operation Cavalry Christmas or Operation Home Sweet Home.
