Lawrence O'Donnell in trouble w/viewers over "simple-minded" faith of Pres. Bush
MSNBC/Scarborough Country | 10/15/04 | Self

Posted on 10/15/2004 7:31:46 PM PDT by Joann37

Many of us were critical of Lawrence O'Donnell's condescending attitude toward Pres. Bush's faith when O'Donnell was on Scarborough Country.

Pat Buchanan is in for Joe tonight, and in the next segment, O'Donnell will debate the president's faith. Pat said they received a ton of criticism over O'Donnell's remarks yesterday.

ON RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

O'Donnell: screenwriter for "The West Wing."

I saw this last night and O'Donnell was outrageous. I am glad to see that MSNBC is getting trashed over this, especially the West Wing producer, O'donnell

O'Donnell is saying Christians do not believe in freedom. They supported slavery for 200 years.

Whereas the Islamists support slavery for...what...1400 years now?

Typical elitist, educated accusation.

O'Donnell has a nightly love affair with the sound of his own voice. Apparently, he hates God. At least that's the impression he gives.

If I were a Democrat, I would be mortified to have O'Donnell represent my party. He's like Elizabeth Edwards, everything he says just makes matters worse.

Thanks. I definitely did a search on this because I was sure someone else would have written in (I didn't post until half way through the show). I'll try to contact the moderator to see if there's some delay in the search function.

I can't stand that guy. He is a political operative masquerading as a "journalist".

I hope Bush wins. I can wait to see these liberal snobs cry.

O'Donnell is an idiot, and neither Pat nor his guest did a good job answering him. The president, like many of us, prays for guidance. If we knew all the answers, including the ultimate outcome of war, I suppose we wouldn't need to pray. But O'Donnell talks about prayer as if it's like consulting a palm reader. He also said if the founders consulted God, and if God believes everyone should be free, why then did the founders have slaves? Well, they wrote a Constitution that would end slavery, and soon thereafter fought a civil war over it (among other things). O'Donnell's comprehension of history and religion is pathetic, and the responses to him weren't much better.

I have previously posted I thought O'Donnell was just stupid. Now, after the last two nights' exhibitions, I just think he is somewhat deranged.

It was a Christian leader from the Church of England -- Wilberforce, I believe -- who lead the world-wide effort to largely end slavery.

I thought his comments were blasphemous that Presidents should NEVER pray for guidance or look to God for anything! It's virtually a declaration there is no God and such prayers and stupid and simple-minded.

Ah, so he wants to completely run off the Catholic vote? Since evangelicals are already solidly in Dubya's corner. Risky strategy. ;-)

I seem to recall Christians mobilizing to promote freedom.

Let's take today, for example. Christians are mobilizing to support the spread of freedom in oppressed middle eastern countries. They are mobilizing to promote school choice, freedom of religion in our country, freedom from judicial tryanny, and freedom from the government. The last one especially has harmed the current generation of minorities in this country.

But, of course he is right. We don't believe in freedom whatsoever. We should be more like the secular left that doesn't give a damn that women weren't allowed to vote in Iraq, that people were mutilated and murdered. We should encourage dependency on government rather than independence. We should encourage oppression of people of faith in this country, we should encourage parents to remain chained to a school that is unable to educate our children.

If that is their definition of promoting freedom, I want none of it.
