Sorry, but I don't buy it. I've been to England several times and have NEVER had a single problem. I've also been to the Continent more than a couple times, and again, no probs. I even visited France lately, and the French treated me wonderfully (I speak no French, and they could easily tell I was American).
I'm not saying the author is lying, but I suspect it isn't so bad.
I have to agree with you Citizen, my daughter recently visited England in May and she didn't mention one word of having anytype of bad experience like this. I have noticed that the Brits are not advertising to visit England.
I have always considered why my Grandparents left the lower end of the Gene Pool. I guess the Wacko's they were trying to get away from have finally taken over. Look how many wars the European countries have fought. Some for hundereds of years. They always drag us into their conflicts. If you like Europe -- move their! Change your citizenship, have a blast, leave the American People alone!
Have another war between yourselves but don't come knocking on our door. !! No UN, NO Nothing, no money, no NUTHING !! Kill each other!!
My wife and I were in London when Bush came. It was disgusting to see the masses of people in joyful denunciation of America. I had thought of going down to Trafalgar Sq. in person, but didn't. I could kick myself for not now. I heard several Americans held up an American flag and were quickly hussled off by the police. Why? Could have got themselves beat up?
Yes, I have had run-ins with anti-Americanism. One particular evening, at an Annapolis-Sussex 'Sister City' event, a well-dressed English woman was regaling the dinner table with tales of how horrid the US of A was on her trip the previous year.
She had particular aversion to our service of tea: the disgusting, soggy tea bag.
My True Love informed her that we do unusual things with tea. We THROW IT IN HARBOURS.
End of conversation.
