Wouldn't it be something if he negotiated with some Afghan and Pakistani warlords to give up Bin Laden?

Except that a few months ago he filed a report which stated positively UBL was in Iran.

"All the above is nothing but idle speculation, of course."

But that's a damn good juicy rumor!

He is very knowledgeable, the only problem is that most of what he knows he can't say.

And much of what he says he doesn't know. I have been watching him for two years and have yet to see him make a correct prediction. Has he made any, because I'd certainly like to know what it is. He always comes on the air breathless as if he just got some huge scoop handed to him and then nothing every comes of it.

Just now looked. Nope, he's not down there. The only ones down there are Kerry and Edwards playing Naked Twister again

Don't you ever lock your doors?! I can't believe your homeowners insurance policy would pay for all the damages if Pickles Heinz-Kerry and Mrs. Shamu Edwards joined in.

MANSOOR IJAZ: One way to alienate moderate Muslims - deport Cat

The Christian Science Monitor
Last Updated: September 24, 2004, 09:14:00 AM PDT

LONDON (CSM) - Cat Stevens, the pop artist best known for his songs "Wild World" and "Morning Has Broken" in the 1960s and 70s, was detained onboard a flight from London to Washington when US transportation and immigration officials flagged his Muslim name, Yusuf Islam, on a security watch list that tracks known terrorist groups and their followers. He stands accused of associating with one or more of the banned entities on that list, and of providing funds to certain ones (Hamas allegedly among them) known to support terrorism in the Middle East.

As an American-born Muslim of Pakistani heritage and a strong supporter of the Bush administration's essential thesis that it is better to go after the terrorists wherever they hide than to let them migrate to our shores and attack us, I am outraged by the actions of our government in detaining and deporting Mr. Islam. I do not and have never condoned the terrorist activities of Hamas in Israel or anywhere else, nor have I ever supported such groups with a penny of my money.

But Mr. Islam's expulsion from the US shows how ill-equipped the Bush administration still is - three years after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 - to ferret out the real terrorists from the quirkier followers of a religion that is increasingly the target of Islamophobes. For Muslims like me who have worked tirelessly to bring moderate voices forward as our religion is seized by extremists from within and put under siege by Islam's detractors from without, the Yusuf Islam episode is mostly counterproductive because it not only increases the rage in rational segments of Muslim society, it violates the fundamental principles by which America holds itself out as a beacon of freedom and liberty to the rest of the world. We have to be better if we are to hold others accountable for their misdeeds.

Either Attorney General John Ashcroft and Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge should make the evidence against Mr. Islam public and detail it sufficiently that all can see his sins in an objective light, or they should issue an official apology to the peace activist and explain how American laws got hijacked in such a cavalier manner. The Patriot Act's provisions, it seems, have run amok.

Thanks for the post. At least we know that Mansoor is still alive. The article was written three weeks ago and he's in London, so that sounds like the last we will be hearing from him. His view of Cat Stevens' life and activities is alot kinder than that of the DOJ. Wonder if Fox will miss him because he did add a sense of authenticity to their Mideast reporting.

Well he's been wrong 100% of the time, maybe FOX finally decided to stop using him.

Mansoor did say that he predicted there would not be a terrorist attack in America before the election. So far, so good.

Now that Monsoor's Iraq/Afghanistan war heyday is over, watch for him to make a gradual left turn. Cat Stevens is the first clue.

Remember, you read it here first.

We know a former "person in the know" from the first Iran crisis who is always pointing to Iran as the center of Islamic problems (although I'm sure Palestine would be a close 2nd). The war in Iraq makes the most sense when you look at it in terms of Iran. Take away the borders (which we put in there anyway), look at it as a region. We are on the road to Iran. We have passed through Afghanistan and are in Iraq. Iran as nuclear weapons. Their population is unstable as many would like to see the theocracy gone. Seems that this is a long war and the end game is not Iraq.

Food for thought....another hmmmmm.

"And much of what he says he doesn't know."

He was the first one I heard speak about A.Q. Khan's selling nuclear secrets to Libya and others.

He called him "the most dangerous man in the world", and this was months ahead of any official word about Pakistans nuclear proliferation efforts.

I think the guy really is quite well connected.
