On Wednesday, in a case called Roper v. Simmons , the United States Supreme Court heard impassioned arguments on both sides of the debate over whether or not to allow capital punishment for murderers who committed their crimes as teenagers.
In the past, the Court had already established the un-Constitutionality of executing an individual who is mentally retarded or under the age of 16. But the question has remained about sentencing to death juveniles who fall outside these two categories.
Is doing so cruel and unusual punishment that fails to meet evolving standards of decency? Or is it a necessary deterrent and public statement of society's outrage at the juveniles' unspeakable antisocial act?
Whatever the ultimate answer, I hope Americans realize how lucky they are that the argument is taking place. At the same time that U.S. lawyers and judges are pondering these finer points of fairness and defendants' rights, the Iran Press Service reports that Iran is currently preparing to stone a 13-year-old girl to death for becoming pregnant with her 15-year-old brother's child. For this young girl, there is no available recourse to an intellectual debate about standards of decency.....

a murderer is only less a murderer if the victim is less dead.
That is because the "Left" considers the stoning of a child to be a cultural event, rather than a perversion of justice. "Culture" is more important to the Left than justice. Thank God, the Founding Fathers did not put culture above reason. What Islamic law deems to be "justice", is actually the law committing a crime.
The 16 year-old who shotgunned my cousin as he slept won't do it again. Virginia don't play. You murder someone here, you gonna die. Well, he also killed my cousin's wife. Ya'll might remember this. Reedsville, VA. 1989 I guess two cold-blooded murders would qualify anyone for the needle.
The left wouldn't be caught dead criticizing another country's legal system unless it was a U.S. ally. They can't pat themselves on the back about how allegedly open-minded they are if they dump on a country that hates the U.S. If Iran was really tight with the U.S. you can bet the left would harp on every single incident like this in Iran and demand that we cut off any investments in the country, etc. Their hypocrisy is as loathsome as their cowardice.
