One of the scariest things I've ever seen.... you see people running.. and then they are gone in a huge blast of red.

Yikes. I've been in that train station, waiting for the high-speed AVE down to Seville.
Wish the Spanish hadn't gone wobbly on us, but I guess the population was always against the Iraq war, so it shouldn't surprise me.

That first one from the wire service is amazing. Explosions go from ignition to fireball in a split second - sometimes shorter than can even be captured on 30 frame/sec video. But it looks like the security camera caught one frame that was the exact moment of ignition. Pray for all of those lost, and pray for this nation - so that we will not make a decision in two weeks that makes these events more likely.

I think Spain essentially surrendered by voting out José María Aznar, thereby giving Al Qaeda the victory they were seeking. It was complete and total capitulation.

Too bad Spain's Socialists surrendered to the terrorists. How true. They should have responded with anger and resolve - like most Americans (and most certainly, President Bush) did to a terrorist attack on their own soil. Instead, they cowered and surrendered. I never thought the Spanish would sink to the level of the French ...
To: RetiredArmy
I'm not so sure about that pattern with regards to the USA...remember, post 9/11, conservatives have attained quite a bit of power!

Not much. The republicans in the Senate are still weak kneed and haven't done a lot in my humble opinion. Our boarders remain wide open. Illegals continue to pour in. That means the bad guys are pouring in. They ain't exactly stupid. You see open door, you walk in. That is fairly easy.

There is some speculation about why this video wasn't released until now - there has been a lot of activity this week in Madrid re: terror... apparently they ID'd the ringleader (dead), and also prevented an attack on Madrid's high court.. this may be evidence to justify any action? (action of what, I don't know.)

Wouldn't you help find water sources, oil sources, something?Yes, both of those, but also WMD... During the first three weeks of the war I tried to volunteer to go over and help look. I work in the Environmental field... doing subsurface soil and groundwater investigations. We specifically LOOK for buried chemicals, etc. I know how to use Ground Penetrating Radar, chemical sniffer equipment, etc., and I know how to investigate areas that just "don't look right." Remember the story from yesterday where the ING had our guys keep looking after they had found several caches of buried weapons because it "didn't look right" to the Iraqis? That's the kind of thing I specialize in.
I still believe there is alot of ground over there to cover in looking for buried stuff... and I wish I could be there doing just that.

I have been saying from the beginning that these bombings were the work of the socialists in Spain. My reasons were:
The socialists had the most to gain...
This was a REMOTE DETONATION, al-Qaida would have had a lot to lose with conducting a martyr-less attack, as these attacks are seen as cowardly even within the Arab street....
The blinding speed at which the investigation found a note, connected dots, and rounded up perps....
It is now apparent that at the very least a faction connected to Zapatero's minions was involved, and Moroccan terrorists who claim to be followers of bin-Laden have been charged, but for me, the jury's still out. See http://barcepundit-english.blogspot.com/, he's hot on the trail.
