The mayor insisted that this is not a leisure trip- he says Kerry would never do that with 14 days to the election. He knows, from his inner workings with the Dem. party, that this is desperation on their part.
This may be the best news I've heard all day. On the one hand, if Kerry really thinks he can afford the luxury of taking time off to go duck hunting so close to the election, that would be a really worrisome indicate of what their private polls say. On the other hand, if the mayor is right and this is not a leisure trip, then Kerry's private polling must be horrible. I'll take the mayor's word for it that the situation is the latter one.
