Michael -- just for the record, the first two Sox World Series wins came in 1903 (Teddy Roosevelt) and 1912 (William Howard Taft), both Republicans. Their other three all came during the Wilson Administration, including that famous last one in 1918.

I heard that had been replaced with "he's my daddy". Man if Boston wants to win they better pay some serious homage to the Babe.

If it were Atlanta Braves over Oakland As, then this would signal a Bush win.

George Bush was born in Milton Massachusetts very close to where I have lived and worked for decades.
Interestingly, Milton is in Norfolk County, where also was born John F Kennedy, John Adams, and John Quincy Adams.

Well, I am still rooting for them, but I was resigned to defeat after game three. I have the feeling they will win tonight (I have not started to watch it yet), only to lose tomorrow.

You do realize that they had a great record during 4 terms of FDR, right. And they had many years in the dumpster. Co-incidence.

According to Edwards, the history has been that if the winner is the Redskins, a Republican wins the White House, while if the Packers come out on top, a 'rat gets sworn in. Like most "facts" from Lawyer Edwards, this is wrong.
In eight (8) meeting between the Redskins and Packers in election years, the Redskins won only 3 times. In 1988 Bush was elected, in 1972 Nixon was elected and in 1948 Truman was elected.
Redskins lost in 1968 but Nixon was elected, lost in 1952 but Ike was elected and lost 3 times in 1936,1932 and Roosevelt was elected.
Man, when you can't even get the trivia right it's time to fire the researchers!

Die-hard Cardinal fan here( and as I type this I'm dyin' being down 3-2)....anyway, since you brought up Bill Buckner...
Did you see where Mr.Buckner was recently almost killed in a traffic accident? The pedestrian Buckner was crossing an intersection, when an 18 wheel semi-tractor trailer ran through the the red light of the intersection in which Buckner was crossing.
Luckily for Mr. Buckner, he was able to avoid serious injury durring the incident, as the semi-truck passed harmlessly between his legs.

He had bad ankles at the time and supposedly should not have been out there.True. John McNamara and Grady Little both screwed up for the same reason.
