WASHINGTON, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Former U.S. President Bill Clinton has set his sights on becoming U.N. secretary-general. A Clinton insider and a senior U.N. source have told United Press International the 56-year-old former president would like to be named leader of the world body when Kofi Annan's term ends early in 2006.

"He definitely wants to do it," the Clinton insider said this week.

Do you know how many times this has come out about Clinton taking over the UN? Lost count! Figures it comes out right before the election.

Billy would be perfect for the job. After all, he's the closest thing we have to a Stalinist thug.

He would have to at least wait until 2008. I believe the US can veto such a move. I doubt if GWB would stand for it. Parley

Well. As corrupt as the U.N. has become and has been "outed" to be... ..Clinton would fit in quite nicely.

Thats REAL GOOD NEWS....I guess bubba is anticipating that the US will withdraw from the UN and the security council

Then bubba can become UN Pressident.

Rules are that the UN President cannot be from any permanent member country.

Not that rules made any difference to bubba and the rats..../sarcasm

I always thought that the Secretary General could NOT come from one of the 5 permanent members of the Security Council?

Is this incorrect?

Won't they have to change the rules. I though the States is not permitted to have a leadership position.

It would have to happen before Clinton took over because of all the things he has been accused of, withdrawing early is not one of them.

Hey, that sounds good!

Couple of conditions, though. Nothing major:

1) The UN has to move out of the US, and

2) The US drops out of the UN.

This would be a pretty fair deal all the way around! Win-Win situation!

No, it is correct that a citizen of a permanent Security Council member country cannot be Secretary-General of the UN.

>>>>Rules are that the UN President cannot be from any permanent member country.

Clinton already has honorary citizenship in Rwandan and he owns a house in Ireland.

I wouldn't put it past him to renounce US citizenship and go for UN President under another citizenship.

What makes you think he would go for the position under a US citizenship?

With a Kerry "Presidency" running parallel to a Clinton U.N. worldwide "leadership" role I sense some potentially significant treason possible and maybe even a "merger" ? .. The possibilities are endless. The threats to our national Sovereignty could be enhanced greatly if the above scenario transpires.... One hell of a force multiplier.. for the wrong side.

The poor U.S. Constitution is never lacking a supply of enemies both foreign... and domestic.

Even if you disagree with Bush and favor a different candidate or small third party, there is far too much at stake this time around.

Kerry must be defeated in the election. We need to vote for Bush and try to persuade the die-hard liberals why they should vote for NADER if they can not be persuaded to vote for Bush.

Having seen the millions that Anan has scammed through the Oil for Food program, clinton can't wait to get his nose in the trough.
