No, it is correct that a citizen of a permanent Security Council member country cannot be Secretary-General of the UN.

Can you cite the Article in the UN Charter that states that a permanent Security Council member country cannot be Secretary-General of the UN?....... That has been quoted around a lot but no one can provide the prohibition from the UN Charter.....

Now because the Permanent five have veto power it could be assume none would ever become the Secretary because one of the others would exercise the veto power but that isn't assured.

Well, Clinton really should be with the UN.

.

.

But then, the UN really should be at the bottom of the sea.

Maybe that's why he's helping Kerry.

Rush mentioned this today as a more serious possibility now,
as he seemed to think the Billster was putting it out there
himself now. Rush said, sort of out of the side of his
mouth, "He wants to take over when Kofi Annan leaves in
2006; hey, Kofi Annan better watch it he MAKES it to 2006!"

In retrospect, I believe I postulated that his next ascension would be the UN, while he was still in office. You can tell his desire to be on top of the world, running things. Liberal Elitism at it's best.

The post of UN Secretary General fits Clinton well--it is full of opportunities for graft and corruption, provides for ample global travel on someone else's money, it has no real responsibility other than BSing people and gives ample opportunity to be away from Hillary and with babes from around the world.

"to be away from Hillary and with babes from around the world"

This was the first thing I thought of re:Clinton. While somebody else picks up his global tab(s). Kerry will be envy of bill, the ultimate gigolo gig ie., Global Gigolo Mo
