SHARING AND SUPPORTING ISSUES AND VALUES OF THE ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY
Orthodox Christians for Bush ^ | 10/22/2004 | Pres. George W. Bush

The Orthodox Christians for Bush Committee is very pleased to share this moment and information with you. Thanks to our efforts and your voices we have been able to communicate with the Presidential Campaign in a very unique and exciting way. By articulating our thoughts, opinions, concerns and spiritual beliefs to the Campaign, the President has issued an historical statement to the American Orthodox Christian Community, which identifies and responds to our concerns for our Nation and our brothers and sisters abroad. We are sincerely grateful for his understanding and look forward to even more aggressively supporting his re-election and administration.

I will always wonder why so many Christians have protested the war in Iraq. Iraq is home to some of the most important sites mentioned in the Bible. Christians should realize that after the fall of Saddam Hussein the door to the past will some day be opened to foreign visitors. That is, after Iraq becomes the nation that the United States has hoped it will be.

The Christian people will be able to visit the place where they are told it all began, at the crossroads of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, in whose lushness once stood the Garden of Eden in the city of Qurnah.

Another city the Christian people will be able to visit is the city of UR. Genesis 11 suggests that Abraham lived here. And, the city of Babylon is where the Tower of Babel was built.

For all Christians the journey to the past begins in Iraq.

Nice to know there are some in the Orthodox Community for Bush. Perhaps unfairly, but because of the Orthodox church's closeness to Arafat in the Middle East, I sometimes think of their leadership as left of center.
