Powerlineblog.org: We Just Got A Tip (Breaking Story on Kerry?)
Powerline ^ | 10/23/04

Posted on 10/23/2004 9:53:20 AM PDT by freespirited

We just got a tip......that a major newspaper will break a front-page story Monday morning that could create a serious problem for the Kerry campaign. We don't yet have any details, but it relates to a foreign policy issue, and it will call into question--amazingly enough--John Kerry's truthfulness.

We'll watch for the story Sunday night and post it as soon as it becomes available.

Yea.....but what would be the upside for the administration to keep that under wraps?

Welcome to the fold.

For 36 years I was a fence-sitting Independent who leaned towards the left.

Eight years of Klintoon and meeting .45MAN pushed me over to the *right* side.

Speaking as someone who was raised by hard-line Dems - the party is not what it used to be. Just ask Zell Miller.

Again *Welcome* and thank you for your candid post.

Maybe I'm not following your post, but if Kerry had access to the information that OBL is confirmed dead, why would he accuse Bush of letting him get away? Even Kerry wouldn't be that stupid.

yes he would if he had reason to believe the info would be kept "classified" until after the election.

Welcome to the world of those that think and use their brains. I think you are not alone. The left wing of the Democratic party has taken over and gone over the edge. How in the world can they engage in this kind of rhetoric when we are at war? I can see disagreeing but their rhetoric is beyond the pale. They are consumed and blinded by hatred and fear. Hopefully, after this elsection they'll spend a lot of time in a closet with the lights out sucking their thumbs saying to themselves 'what were we thinking'. There really is a need for a reasonable and rational opposition in our political system. The Democratic Party of Kerry and Edwards and Kennedy and McAuliffe is not it. Their campaign is a disgrace.

"Maybe I'm not following your post, but if Kerry had access to the information that OBL is confirmed dead, why would he accuse Bush of letting him get away? Even Kerry wouldn't be that stupid."

The US has an interest in keeping OBL undead, if only to keep passion for the WoT strong. If OBL is ever captured or admitted to be dead, a lot of popular support might evaporate, as many people seem to equate the WoT with OBL himself. Now, if intelligence about this were made available to everyone at the upper echelon with the proviso that it remain top secret, Kerry could say that W dropped the ball and get away with it (since to rebut him would be to break the silence). It is possible that people in the upper echelon grew irate at Kerry's capitilzation on this matter, and leaked the info to the press in order to subvert him. And, it's further possible that the press hasn't run with the story yet because the documents are pending (the tipster could have just phoned in the news and promised to provide the corroborating documents tomorrow, thus pushing back the timetable to a Monday run). I never said it was likely, I'm just theorizing here.

Before Kerry was selected as the democratic nominee, listening to Dean and all the rest of those jerks turned my stomach. I knew they were lying. They knew they were lying. I didn't buy their dog and pony show for a second.

I guess Bush could have done better explaining the war, but he didn't have to explain it to me, I'm not an idiot.

This country is filling up with commies and socialist and every other element that hates America. They hate Bush. They hate him.

If bush said 1+1=2, the left would call him a liar.

When he wins, I hope he cleans all their clocks.

I agree, way to small an issue. Lots' of people do that and it is not a big deal. He would have to pay back taxes and his followers wouldn't care at all.

Does anyone know, if there is an October surprise, why it is coming out after many states have had early balloting already underway? Are there really that many "undecideds" out there?

Not that many people use early balloting. And the most recent poll I saw (sometime in the last three days or so) said there was about 15% of the electorate that still considered themselves "persuadable" one way or the other.

oh my that would be rich. If Kerry knew osama was dead and kept up with his patter about Bush lettinghim get away. That would be risky for Kerry to do, surely even he wouldn't do that.

I said I agreed with you.
I know it is frustrating but there are people who are not "into politics" like we are here.
People who see the nightly news and think Iraq is not connected to terrorism, people who think Iraq is falling apart. However, they are not confident enough with Kerry to vote for him.
Sure these people should be better informed, but you know what?
Most people are more concerned with getting their kids to school, paying their bills, going to the doctors to get a lump checked out.
This is the reality.

I wish after all the misinformation on Iraq that was put out to the public this year the President could have been a little more feisty and clear in the first debate on foreign policy to reach those uneasy voters. Thats all I am saying.

My prediction will be that the SURPRISE will be from the Clinton's side of things...proving Rush's theory that Hillary will not allow a Kerry victory so that she can take the nomination in 2008.
