Ads Aim to Clear the Air on Stem Cell Research

WASHINGTON, D.C., OCT. 25, 2004 (Zenit.org).- The U.S. bishops' conference has launched a nationwide two-week ad campaign highlighting the issue of stem cell research.

The ads draw a clear distinction between embryonic stem cell research, which requires the destruction of human life at the embryonic stage, and adult stem cell research.

"Stem cell research is one of the most important moral issues of our day, but it is also one of the most distorted," said Cathy Cleaver Ruse, a spokeswoman for the bishops' Secretariat for Pro-Life Activities. "In the public debate, embryo-destructive research has been greatly hyped, while the proven results of ethical adult stem cell research are very nearly ignored."

"Our ads explain that adult stem cell research is already helping people with heart disease, spinal cord injury, Parkinson's and many other diseases. Embryonic stem cells, on the other hand, have not helped one single human patient, and they come with a hefty price tag: the deliberate destruction of human life," Ruse said. "As our ads state: science does not have to kill in order to cure."

The ads will appear, among other places, in USA Today and The Washington Times.

The ads can be viewed at http://www.nccbuscc.org/prolife/stemcellads.htm.

Cathy Cleaver Ruse sounds like she is related to Austin Ruse. Austin Ruse is known for his strong Pro-Life views, and having foughtthe anti-Catholic, fascist group (which takes the name Catholic as deception) of Catholics for a Free Choice. Catholics for a Free Choice has funding from the Rockefellar Foundation, the Ford Foundation, and I would imagine NARAL and Planned Parenthood (your tax dollars at work, sigh!).

There is nothing Catholic about Catholics for a Free Choice -- they are against Catholic teaching and spread lies about the Roman Catholic Church -- as well as other Pro-Life organizations.

At any rate, Archbishop Chaput has helped set this record straight about Stem Cell research, but the MSM has distorted the Catholic position (to try to support the corrupt views of a Catholic in horrible standing call John Kerry.

Note that the Bishops Conference elected to go with the Washington Times, not the ultra liberal, conservative and Catholic bashing Washington Post for these ads.

It is possible that either the Washington Post rejected any such ad as it might show the Catholic Church for the truths it stands for.

Or it might be the Catholic Bishops do not to reward the ultra liberal press for their views.

I hope the ads run in California. We have a stem cell proposition on the ballot.

Special PING Marvin.

Say, would you happen to know where Freepers and Lurkers could find more info on Stem Cell Research? Something comprehensive?

I believe America needs to know the truth and to talk about this critical issue.
