Please Let Terri Schiavo Go! By Dave Gibson (06/08/04)

I recently received an email from the American Family Association, which once again told the painful story of Terri Schiavo. The AFA strongly urged me to contact Governor Jeb Bush (R-Fla.), and beg him to take more measures to see that Mrs. Schiavo continue to be kept alive.

The AFA email also complained that in 1995, Terri's husband (Michael) began living with another woman and announced their engagement two years later...As if Mr. Schiavo's life is any of these people's business! They also went on to say of Michael Schiavo: "he continues to live with his lover and wait for the day Terri will die." In addition to their attempt to paint Michael Schiavo as evil incarnate, they claim that there is a large inheritance to be had, after Terri's death...Another lie!

I truly hope that there is a special place in hell for these people, who are doing nothing but adding to Michael Schiavo's pain.

For those of you who do not know...Terri Schiavo is a Florida woman, who suffered heart failure in 1990. As a result of the attack, oxygen was cut off to her brain which robbed her of any cognitive ability. She has been in a vegetative state since the 1990 incident. She cannot wash, dress, nor feed herself. Doctors inserted a feeding tube directly into her stomach. She is unable to speak or communicate in any form. Terri Schiavo has spent the last 14 years in a hospital bed, unable to move.

Despite Terri's tragic existence, and her husband's wish to allow her to die with at least a shred of dignity...There are many who wish to keep her "alive." Last October, the Florida State Legislature passed a bill which allowed Gov. Bush to order the feeding tube replaced--after her husband told doctors to remove it.

Immediately after signing the measure last October, Gov. Bush said in a statement: " Like tens of thousands of Floridians who have raised their voices in support of Terri Schiavo's right to live, I have been deeply moved by these tragic circumstances."

The key word in the governor's statement is "live." No one of sound mind could say honestly that the current state in which Terri Schiavo exists, could be considered living!

Conversely, Oregon is the only state in the country, which allows doctors to help quicken the death of a terminally ill patient. The law was voted in by Oregonians in 1994. It allows physicians to prescribe a lethal dose of narcotics to anyone suffering from a terminal illness, who asks for their assistance. The law is called the Death With Dignity Act.

Of course, United States Attorney General John Ashcroft challenged the law and tried to block the wishes of Oregon's voters. However, on May 26 the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Bush Administration had no right to interfere with any state's doctor-assisted suicide law. Ashcroft's Justice Department had maintained that suicide is not a "legitimate medical purpose." The court though, saw it differently...Thank God!

The issue of physician-assisted suicide or euthanasia has long been a topic of heated debate. I believe that it is a decision which must be left exclusively to the patient and their doctor. Politicians simply have no place in this matter!

In Terri Schiavo's case, she is not able to communicate her wishes to the doctors. That decision must then be left to the one closest to her--her husband Michael.

I consider myself to be a compassionate man. I love animals and have been fortunate enough to have shared my life with several of them. Consequently, I have been faced with the deaths of many of my best friends. Many times, I have had to make the decision which ended their suffering. It is a measure of last-resort and it is always one made out of love and compassion.

When it comes to the issue of ending the suffering of one's beloved pet...We all seem to be in agreement, that it is the right thing to do. We hear our friends say: 'it is selfish to keep them here, only for you, and "it is cruel to allow them to go on suffering." They are absolutely right, it is cruel to allow another living being to suffer, with no hope of recovery.

If our animals deserve to end their lives with compassion and dignity...Do not our human loved-ones deserve at least, as much?

Let Terri go.

I don't think Windsong is Jodie; but from reading other posts of hers, she is a nasty anti-semite.

"No one of sound mind could say honestly that the current state in which Terri Schiavo exists, could be considered living!" The author is an advocate of murder for convenience, Michael Schiavo's convenience! Sadly, the democrat disease of liberalism is infecting too many in this nation, folks who believe killing the infirm and the unborn is an enlightened way to 'better society'. The only way to turn these sick lickspittlists around is to overwhelmingly defeat the democrat party at every level, until they (the liberal elite of the democrap party) no longer command that once important party.

I recently received an email from the American Family Association, which once again told the painful story of Terri Schiavo.

It is a painful story.........no doubt.

The AFA email also complained that in 1995, Terri's husband (Michael) began living with another woman and announced their engagement two years later...As if Mr. Schiavo's life is any of these people's business!

Mr. Schiavo's life is indeed nobody's business.............however, the manner of her death is a concern.

I truly hope that there is a special place in hell for these people, who are doing nothing but adding to Michael Schiavo's pain.

I find Michael Schiavo's pain to be suspect.

Terry Schiavo's condition was described as the result of a potassium imbalance. Potassium Chloride, anyone?

Immediately after signing the measure last October, Gov. Bush said in a statement: " Like tens of thousands of Floridians who have raised their voices in support of Terri Schiavo's right to live, I have been deeply moved by these tragic circumstances."

I strongly feel that the so-called "tragic circumstances" were the direct result of an attempted murder.

There is no dignity allowing someone to die as a result of a murder attempt.

The issue of physician-assisted suicide or euthanasia has long been a topic of heated debate. I believe that it is a decision which must be left exclusively to the patient and their doctor. Politicians simply have no place in this matter!

The patient has said nothing in regards to this matter. It is all based on the words of a man who obviously was in love with someone else. All we have is Michael Schiavo's contention that Terry wanted it this way. No corraborating testimony.........his word.

Sanity alert.........Terri Schiavo is not an animal; she is a human being.

Again, Terri Schiavo is nobody's "pet".......and to think in such terms is a direct affront to the sanctity of human life. Also, Ms Schiavo being beyond the realm of recovery is a specious argument at best, She has not been afforded a chance at recovery. At the behest of Michael Schiavo, of course.

Let it be no secret, I believe Michael Schiavo attempted to murder his "beloved" wife. It is my strong belief that he doesn't want Terry to awaken, for the fact that she would offer damning testimony against him.

Terri's condition was attributed to a potassium imbalance, leading to heart failure.

I am of the opinion that toxicology reports should be carefully reviewed.............I suspect that Mr Schiavo administered a dose of potassium chloride, the same compound used to stop the heart in lethal injections. (Death by injection)....I further surmise that Mr Schiavo's main concern is seeing Terri Die; dead men (or dead women) tell no tales.....sue me Mr Schiavo, if you wish.

To my fellow Freepers, best regards.............

He Rides A White Horse.

We dont have any WRITING that says what her wishes are. Without that, I think you have to assume a 30 year old woman would WANT TO LIVE.

Keeping in mind that her religion forbids suicide...and opposes the removal of hydration and nutrition.

It's not a matter of what you or I want...It is a matter of what Terri and God want.

If God had wanted her to "soar on" he is capable of taking her anytime he wants to and nothing you do, I do, or anyone else does will stop Him.

Folks, we are living in the end of the Weimar Republic. Be very frightened of folks who start talking about "life unworthy of life."

I haven't browsed her other posts recently, and haven't seen her anti-semitic posts. She makes it clear she has no respect for Catholics. She acknowledges that because Terri is Catholic Terri is opposed to the feeding tube being removed, yet Windsong insists it should be removed anyway.

I really do think Windsong is Jodie. Most of the people who advocate removing Terri's feeding tube don't have all the facts. Once they do, they tend to agree this is a right-to-life case, not a right-to-die case. Windsong seems to have all the facts, and even acknowledges that Terri would not/ does not want to be put to death. Yet she insists Terri must die.

That's a very good reply, and I must say I agree with most of what you said.

I don't think Michael originally intended to kill Terri. If he did, I think he would have succeeded. I think he was an abusive b@st@rd who lost control when Terri told him she was leaving him. (She had told a friend that she was going to tell him that night.) I think he lost his temper, as he had on many other occasions, and he choked her until after she passed out. He thought she was dead, and called her father to tell him so.

Up to this point, I don't think he specifically wanted her dead; he just lost control. He was about to lose the one "thing" he could control - Terri. (This is the most desparate situation in the mind of an abuser.) Once the damage was done, he needed to cover his crimes. At first, he probably wanted her to live, so he wouldn't be charged with her murder, and so he could benefit financially. Also, he now had total control over Terri, which is very appealing to a controlling man, as he is reported to be.

As time went on, the situation changed. He got his hands on the money; the immediate threat of prosecution was unlikely; he got tired of his old possession (Terri) and found a new one (Jodie Centonze). He can't just walk away from Terri now, because she holds the evidence of his crimes, in her broken bones. He must control that body at all costs. The sooner she's cremated, the safer he'll be. Her immediate cremation without autopsy is the only thing that can save him now.

If he remains her guardian, she will be a constant drain on the finances he embezzled from her. If he ceases to be her guardian, her new guardian would likely expose the evidence of abuse and embezzlement, and he would be charged for his crimes. Instead of the money being slowly drained away, it would be gone in an instant. And so would his most prized possession - Jodie. At his age, with no money, he knows he'd have a difficult time finding a woman to put up with his abuse. He's too old to seduce a young naive woman, and would be too poor to seduce a mature woman.

He has only one problem - Terri. There is only one possible solution to that problem - The Final Solution.
