A study of the major media by the Project for Excellence in Journalism finds that news stories are favoring John Kerry by a ratio of almost 2 to 1.
As the president campaign has turned to the final stretch, news reports have become increasingly biased.
The Boston Globe reported Wednesday that the Journalism "survey released yesterday . . . found that 59 percent of the stories that were primarily about Bush from Oct. 1-14 were negative in tone, compared to only 25 percent of the stories about Kerry. And while 34 percent of the Kerry coverage was favorable, a mere 14 percent of the president's coverage put him in a positive light. The survey examined 817 stories from The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Columbus Dispatch, and The Miami Herald; the evening and morning news programs on ABC, CBS, and NBC; PBS's nightly newscast, CNN's NewsNight With Aaron Brown; and the Fox News Channel's Special Report With Brit Hume."
One can only imagine how much more that coverage would favor Kerry had Fox, which offers more balanced coverage, not been included in the study.
''I have no doubt that people who perceive the press as liberal are going to see evidence of this in those numbers," Tom Rosenstiel, director of the Project for Excellence in Journalism, told the Globe. ''My own view is that the inside-baseball, drama-critic mentality is at play here, and it's the same mentality that helped Bush four years ago."
Chuck Todd, editor of the Hotline, chalked up the favorable Kerry coverage to Bill Clinton's former Clinton press secretary Mike McCurry who joined the Kerry campaign.
I AM SHOCKED!
BUMPING this!
No way, do you mean to tell me that the Socialist media in the United States are supporting John (Communist) Kerry?
Get out a here, no way.
Gee- ya think?
Its been a year long Bush bash in the media. I've yet to see a single Kerry hit piece....not even remotely close.
"We are good democratic surrogates in the press. We do our job well. Just look at my National Guard Documents and plans to air the 'ammo' story."
/sarcasm off
I am deeply saddened, but not surprised.
25% of stories about Kerry are negative. Where?? I have never seen a single one either.
Tim Robbins talked about the "chill wind" blowing that will suppress free speech in America. Bull. What really chills me is the knowledge the far left media will serve as propaganda ministers to the Dems. If Kerry is president I will fear for our very freedom.
I'm looking forward the intense navel-gazing media critique of the media when this is all over.
We have to take them to task for not ever bringing up issues about Kerry's Senate record, his trips to talk to the VietCong, his waffles, and everything Kerry.
The media purports to be the guiding force in educating Americans, but they have not been diligent, have been so partisan that they have endangered this country, and have functioned as a propaganda arm of the DNC.
They have also become more and more shrill and leftward since the Internet, cable and radio have taken center stage in the ability to disseminate, analyze and discuss politics.
so then , question!!!!.....WHY DO WE SUPPORT THEM BY WATCHING EVEN A MINUTE OF PROGRAMING??? Do you all realize that if the conservatve population here in America turned off their TVs to every station with the exception of FOX, ( and even then if Fox has a liberal view on TURN IT OFF and WRITE THEM)....the MSM would be forced , within MONTHS , to change!!!!!
It's a whole lot more lopsided than that.
I haven't seen any either, because I told my local newspaper, the Cincinnati Enquirer to pound salt. They endorsed President Bush because they had to, for customer base reasons. But try to find even one of their reporters actually reporting all the things that make Kerry unfit for command, and it was like they didn't even have actual reporters. Every article was a hit piece on President Bush, and no one tried to report about kerry's senate testimony, or lies, or kerry using churches for politics. They may have endorsed President Bush, but the Cincinnati Enquirer is a another Socialist (kerry) rag through and through. And they'll never get my business again. The Post here in Cincy is the same way.
Can someone post the link to the Boston Globe article.
