Clinton: Kerry Will have Only Narrow Win, Maybe
NewsMax.com ^ | 10/27/04 | Carl Limbacher

Ex-president Bill Clinton sounded confident on Monday when he told a Philadelphia crowd that John Kerry would win the White House and "make America the comeback country."

But yesterday in Florida, the recuperating heart patient sounded a little less certain. "I think it is slightly more likely that he will win, but this thing is tight as a tick," Clinton told the Magazine Publishers of American gathering in Boca Raton.

One reason for the uncertainty: Dubya enjoys "negative campaigning" in a way his father, who Clinton defeated 12 years ago, never did.

"It was a pretty negative campaign, but I don't think he enjoyed it the way his son does," Clinton told the crowd, in quotes picked up by the New York Post.

He also said Bush's decision to call himself a "compassionate conservative" was the most brilliant slogan he had ever heard in politics.

As is usually the case with the ex-president, the topic soon turned to his own travails while in office; specifically the Marc Rich case.

"I was slimed," he said of the bad publicity garnered by his pardon of America's worst tax fugitive.

"Maybe I should have pardoned him two years before I left office so I would have had a chance to fight back," he added.

I noted that Bubba was quoted last week as saying that, in the end, there is only so much a high-profile campaigner can do for the candidate. In the end, the candidate must do it himself. I thought at the time that this was a pretty neat disclaimer before he hit the road for JFK-wannabee. Sort of like saying, if this bozo loses, don't blame me. I can't pull it out for him.

I agree with that assessment. It's all about BJ, all the time...World Premier and POTUS is what the Clinton-RAT-Mafia is aiming for.

This puke still burns my butt. Listening to the MSM recently, Clinton is described as "the biggest democratic vote-getter in a generation". Well, Big Whoop. The guy never won a plurality. Until recently one or the other candidates won a plurality of the popular vote.

Really? I thought it was Lewinsky that was slimed.

People still don't want to get blowed up.

Except maybe B Clinton, but I digress on that point.

Yeah, bill's still campaigning for himself and lavishing the attention. He'll say nearly anything when he has the spot light. His heart isn't into campaigning for Kerry.

based on the crowds

Last night on the local WB News the talking head said that the President spoke to "a group of his supporters" in WI while Senator Kerry spoke to a "huge crowd of voters".

They showed two clips of Kerry - one was filmed closeup from straight ahead showing 20 or so people on the stage behind him.

The second shot was a WORM'S EYE shot from behind Kerry focusing on balloons and banners on a ceiling, with no crowd visible.

The one Bush clip showed a good-sized crowd.

What they said and what we actually saw onscreen was so diametrically opposed was laughable.

I agree with you. I don't think he likes Kerry or feels comfortable with the thought of Kerry being POTUS. Also, Clinton has not really talked negatively about Bush unlike most of the Democrats. He has actually given Bush a few compliments.

Okay, I can't stop laughing. It took me a while to get past all of the key words that are listed after the article.

Anyway, even Clinton knows that Kerry is going to lose. It's a wonder that Clinton even agreed to campaign for Kerry.

Still laughing,
Joy

You are right. Florida is going for GW Bush big time. Even Clinton cannot bring out big crowds in Florida. Gore is useless and John Edwards can't draw a real crowd to save his life. Actually Kerry is not only going down in Florida, he is going down big time across the country. m Bill Clinton know the real ticket. Kerry is toast! Hillary in 2008!
