Conservatism triumphs over socialism...
The transcript is great.
The audio is wonderful.
But to get the full sense of what happened last night, you have to watch the video.
Alan was brilliant.
Obama is an empty suit.

Wished I saw these on TV.
well in most places that is true, but at the Illinois ballot box, I can assure you that Mr. Keyes will receive a thorough drubbing.
It is unfortunate, but that is the Peoples Republic of Illinois, where voting democrat has nothing to do with intellectual evaluation of the issues.
The streaming video should be up on the Keyes and/or Renew America sites before long.
Debates one and two are there already, and the transcript and audio of last night is already there, as you know.
The level of discourse among Democrats and the media here is about fourth grade.
My apologies to all fourth-graders.
I predict Obama is going to win, for the reason that he takes his lessons from the anti-christ's book of how to win in politics. Tell people what they want to hear and be sweet about it. I read a lot of newspapers and magazines. Obama is on the front cover of Black Enterprise. He's being touted like he was Muhammad Ali or whoever. I read Jet Magazine and they're touting him as fighting to become the only black senator. They mentioned Alan Keyes name only, so one would assume he was running against a white man. Not even when Alan put out his tax plan for black tax payers, I saw NOT A WORD about it in any newspapers or major websites.
I would love to see an upset in Illinois, but it just isn't going to happen.
BUMP!
Great work, EV!
Go, Keyes, go!! :-)
KEYES: I think that what you're doing when you stand before your fellow citizens to run for office is not about power, and it's not about office. It's simply about standing, with integrity, for the truth that will best serve the people, the country, and your own children in the future of America. And I believe that's all that I'm about.
And when I am running for office, even as now, I don't get up every day thinking about what's going to serve my ambition, and what serves some useful purpose, in that cynical way. If I have presented to people, as honestly as I can, things that I believe will help them to improve their understanding of the foundations of our way of life, to improve the way in which we maintain our liberty and our free institutions, to improve the way we apply those principles in order to secure our prosperity for the future and our strength and security in the world, then everything I do, at every stage of my public life--win, lose, or draw--makes a good contribution to the life of my country.
And that's all I care about. Because, along the way, as they say, you can do a lot of good--and it's up to God, at the end of the day, to decide in what way He is going to bless the effort.
But I am sure of one thing--as long as I walk the walk that He outlines and the path He wants me to go down, I will do good, and I will be happy with the result, because the only thing I really care about is whether or not, at the end of the day, I win the one judgment that matters most to me in the world, and that is when He admits me home to the kingdom, and the place that He prepares for all those who have faith in His Son.
In an earlier post re: Keyes & Buchanan: "while they have run for office more than once, they had fared very poorly"
That tells you more about the voters than about the candidates. I think Keyes is WAY over their heads.
Considering what we've been up against in the presidential '04, God fearing Americans had better get to the polls or we've ALL had it.
And, oh yes, KEYES WINS ANOTHER ONE!
Thank you, EV, for posting the debate. Cancelled cable
months ago. Greatly appreciate it.
And why does he continue to make that lame argument that only adopted children of homosexuals will commit incest, when that argument clearly applies to heterosexual adoption as well?
Why do you continue to focus only on the couple of issue where Alan is a bit out of the GOP mainstream, and ignore the vast majority of issues where he is right up the middle of our party's views?
And why can't you focus a bit of attention on the fact that Obama is wrong on almost everything?
You betcha!
Thanks for your comments...they're right on.
He's not a "bit" out of the GOP mainstream; he's completely outside the GOP mainstream on conscription, on this incest thing, on the 17th amendment, and on slavery reparations.
I would vote for him if I were in Illinois, but the man would never win a GOP primary with those views at any other time.
Not to be a pessimist, but what do the poll numbers say for Mr. Keyes? The MSM has Obama winning by a landslide.
This does not say much for the folks of IL--Keys is perhaps the best debater in politics today. If the people of IL chose Obama over Alan Keyes, they are socialists who deserve what they get.
The incest thing is not an 'issue'...it is simply a lesson in logical thinking for liberals, given in response to a question.
I would guess that a majority of Republicans would heartily support the repeal of the 17th, and the 16th Amendments.
You'd be right about the 16th, but wrong about the 17th.
I voted for Keyes in the Primaries when he ran against Bush. He's just dead on on all issues. Changes he would make would be radical and improve the quality of life for everyone in the world. That would take a while to bear out and he'd be trounced in the meantime.
