Posted on 10/28/2004 4:40:20 AM PDT by Liz

Mel gave a ringing defense of embryonic life and came out opposed to stem cell research, and opposed to a CA referendum to use tax dollars for stem cell initiatives.

Mel is da' Man!

I think the vast majority of this country is comfortable with the notion that embryonic stem cell research is problematic and falls somewhere in the range between "Should Be Banned" and "Should Be Funded". If this position can be articulated clearly enough, I think this issue is a winner for the 'Pubbies.

Can't see him being a Kerry fan.

He may not have come out and said it in fact he was not satisfied with the positions of both candidates however he is a devout catholic and aligning his position with that of the president adds currency for the catholic vote for Bush.

Let's face it you can come out against the prez in Hollywood and still vote for him but you cannot publicly support him and vote against him (like many will do!). There is a reverse McCarthyism at work in Hollywood.

Gibson certainly is proving that he is a man of "faith with deeds", as opposed to JFKerry a weapon of mass deception.

I thought Mel was smart not to take a stand on the prez race.......at least in public, or on GMA.

He's thumbing his nose at Follywood, letting the Hollyweirdos get their panties in a twist.

Let 'em figure it out for themselves.

This thread was about Mel on GMA. My source was Mel on GMA. Did you not see Mel on GMA?

Diane Sawyer stated that Mel certainly wouldn't be voting for Kerry. Gibson went into a rant about how disgusted he was with this election and how both candidates were "lemons". He said sometimes you have to go to the poll and pick the lemon you can squeeze the most in your favor. Sawyer ended the interview saying Gibson should be placed on the undecided category of voter.

There are alternatives to ECSR---which has yielded zero results according to the experts.

There's adult stems cells, and also use of placenta, and maybe after-birth.

The very latest is the use of fat cells. What with all the liposuctioning going on, there's plenty of those cells to go around.

I work in a Biological research lab and I am against embryonic stem cell research. There are many places to collect stem cells that do not involve the destruction of embryos and these people are trying to fool everyone into believing that if we could just have these magic "embryonic" stem cells all disease would be cured. One can obtain stem cells from umbilical cords and there are several locations in the adult that produce nearly "Stem cell" cells.

Hey, if fat cells keep you healthy, I'll live a thousand years...

Good for Mel.

I heard there was a study released this week about adult stem cells recovered from the eyes of cadavers and implanted in young mice which grew into photosensitive (photo-receptive?) cells. There was hope this could be a path towards treating some forms of blindness.

NO on CA Prop 71. Stop billionaire Bill Gates and other planned parenthood and UN population control advocates and financial supporters from dragging $6 BILLION in bond funds out of the people of recovering state of California for this uncertain and risky embryonic stem cell scheme.

Embryonic stem cells are known to produce huge tumors. The patients own Adult Stem Cells don't produce these tumors by en large. Adult Stem cell research is very promising. Embryonic stem cell research is whistling in the dark.

The only reason Embryonic Stem cell research is pushed is money for the Abortion clinics. This is so the abortion clinics can grind up babies and sell their stem cells for research money. The dems have bought into Embryonic Stem Cell research because the blood of aborted babies is already on their hands, and why not get a few more bucks for it?

Somehow, the ESCR crowd has finessed the public into thinking they have the only solution to curing some diseases.

Besides, didn't the experiment on Parkinson's patients prove to be disasatrous, when their tremors worsened dramatically after being injected with stem cells?

If Planned P'hood is backing it, you know ESCR has to be pure evil.
