There's no surprise for this October

To no one's surprise, the dominant media machine finally unleashed the eagerly anticipated October surprise. The New York Times and CBS News are no doubt surprised that their surprise didn't bust anybody's bunker. [snip]
But this time the October surprise is turning out to be something shot out of a popgun. CBS News was ready to report on election eve that 380 tons of weapons explosives had gone missing after the U.S. Army moved into Baghdad, leaving an explosive dump unguarded. The GIs were unconcerned and naturally it was George W.'s fault, or at least the fault of Laura and the girls. When the New York Times learned about the CBS story the editors wanted to get in on the fun, and published a version of the story first. This ruined the CBS scoop, but what's a little competitive juice measured against bringing down a president they all hate?
[snip]
But if the troops were lollygagging while terrorists were looting the explosives dump, what's heroic about that? Monsieur Kerry, who described American soldiers in an earlier war as rapists and war criminals, is taking no chances this time. If the GIs in Iraq were lollygagging, they were heroically lollygagging.

Perspective...it does the voter good!

It appears the media (Time magazine this time) isn't quite out of October surprises.
It looks like Halliburton whistleblower, Bunny Greenhouse, has made herself available as the final bullet directed at the heart of the Bush administration.
Sorta like the Friday night indictment of Cap Wineberger in '92, the holdovers at the FBI are ready to take down another Bush.

All the RNC has to do is release the FBI files on Kerry and he's done. Why Don't they do this? Bush is in trouble.

This Halliburton story has been "so nothing" for months! Halliburton is a great company. They can handle impossible jobs, with ease, that probably no other company in the world can handle! I can't believe ANYONE would bitch about the job they do. Its, obviously, no one who knows about the oil bidness.

I think they (dems) hoped one thing like the missing explosives would do it, but I also think that all along there was a series of things that will be happening.
Today the IRS investigating the NAACP story came out, earlier this week was the explosives thing. ABC just got and it going to air the video of the the "Purported U.S. al-Qaida", the Polish woman being decapitated,of more Iraqi troops being killed execution style...
There will be more and I do think that though it might not be organized just by a central democratic person or entity, the dems the dems and their supporters are going to be like the "insurgents" in Iraq. Loose actions by independent "cells" but all working to prevent the reelection of Pres. Bush.
It is still going to get messier yet. On top of all that there will be the fraud, cheating by the democrats, and maybe even voter intimidation of Republican voters... besides whatever else they are going to try.
Be sure to get out all the Republican voters you can. We are going to need them all.

You know what's surprising--no one's blamed CBS for attempting to hold (for even longer than it DID hold) this potentially "dangerous" information from the public during a time that had already been predicted as a red-alert. The story's either newsworthy because it presented a clear and present danger or it's dereliction of journalistic duty (if there is such a thing any more) in time of war.

To: Deb
Who in the hell is "Bunny Greenhouse"? What a moniker! Surely it isn't real.

I have loved the Halliburton guys since I lived in Dallas, when I was a teenager. You're right, it's the most extraordinary company in the World. It breaks my heart that the Democrats will destroy any person or company they have to, to get a Republican.
The Democrats have successfully driven the stock price of Halliburton down for the last few quarters.
Senator Frank Lautenburg is behind this current travesty. My hatred of Democrats is starting to get unhealthy.

I think Bush's October Surprise is...NO surprise. He's taking the hits and carrying on with a clean election. And look at where he is now after all the dirty hits--comeptitive in Hawaii, Pennsylvania, etc.
I'd rather be in Bush's position electorally than in Kerry's.
