Pictures from Bush rally this morning in Madison, featuring Rudy Guiliani

Here are some pictures from a Bush Cheney rally this morning at the GOP headquarters in Madison, WI. There were some good speakers, and the crowd was very enthusiastic.

Dave Magnum was there, he is hoping to unseat Tammy Baldwin this year. Tim Michels was there, he has a decent chance of unseating Russ Feingold. The RNC just announced this week that they would be spending $600,000 on Michels' behalf in the last 5 days before the election to unseat Feingold. Michels introduced Rudy.

Here is Tim Michels and his wife:

Rudy waiting to take the podium:

Here's a crowd shot. I'd say there was about 300 people there. Lots of children and veterans. This was under a ten in the parking lot of the GOP headquarters, in an industrial area in the southern part of town.

Here's a shot of the pathetic showing of the Kedwards protestors. Only 2 seemed to be able to make it.

"Tim Michels was there, he has a decent chance of unseating Russ Feingold."

If you call being 15 - 20 points down "decent", yeah, I guess he's got a decent chance...

What place does Rudy have in Bush's plans?

I'm thinking an ambassadorship to the U.N.

I'd like to see him as Attorney-General or head of the Department of Homeland Security.

He's not down - it's tied in Michel's internal polls - heard it this morning on local conservative talkshow. I was surprised it was so close as well. IN addition, Feingold is below 50%, first time ever in his 12 year career!!!

I thought about those two positions. But I like the AG as it is. I would advocate replacing Ashcroft under condition... sweeping house cleaning to follow.

Tom Ridge... I wouldn't mind seeing him replaced, but I'd rather put Tommy Franks in there.

Guiliani has charisma we can use at the U.N. Plus, I'd like to see the U.N. disrespect Guiliani, if he is our ambassador, while in NYC. I dare them...

That's why I like Giuliani for either of these positions. Let's be honest- the guy is a giant asshole. Everyone who ever worked for him would say the same. However, for cleaning up NYC, crushing entrenched bureaucracies at the DOJ or forcing the various heads of the Homeland Security hydra to work together, you need a jerk.

In 98 when Neuman was running against Feingold the the results came in at 51-47 in Feingold's favor. Feingold barely has a majority. I think he's upset a lot of people with his protest votes, and his campaign finance reform bill. THis could go either way. In this instance I think undecideds will break for Michels.

2 weeks ago, I heard from one of Michel's staffers that he was up a bit. I discounted it when the RNC withdrew funds and I wondered when they came up w/a pledge to cover $600k of expenses. FWIW, staff in SW WI is not feeling confident.

OTOH, your info could be brand new and if it is accurate, it rocks! Finegold only got 51% last time and he is not liked because he is basically MIA out here. His lone campaign appearance in my county was a small coffee by invitation at the home of a supporter who is a carpetbagger from the East Coast.

Michels is a far better candidate than Newman. W may have coattails, too.

George Allen, head of the RNC Snatorial Committee said on Fox News Sunday this past Sunday that WI would be the upset of the election.

Great photos of a great rally. I was there. From your photos it looks like I was behind you. I was standing next to the building near the door Rudy came out of.

Do you or any other Madison FReepers plan on attending the election night victory party on Tuesday?

Yeah, I was right near the door too. A little closer to the edge of the tent though.

Hey, you weren't by any chance the guy that called out a thanks to Rudy as he was making his way back inside were you? That would be the mark of a FReeper.

It wasn't me. I had started walking to the back and around the tent so I could get out of there quickly and back to work.

I'd like to see Giuliani as Secretary General of the United Nations. There's a place that needs to be cleaned up.
