Bin Laden Appears on New Tape
Fox News ^ | 10-29-04 | Jrmink

WASHINGTON — The Arab television station Al-Jazeera is broadcasting a new tape from Al Qaeda (search) leader Usama bin Laden (search). Multiple sources told FOX News that the 18-minute videotape is authentic and said its release was timed to coincide with Tuesday's presidential elections. Bin Laden makes reference to recent conflicts in Iraq and addresses the American people directly, sources said. U.S. officials said the tape appears to have been made recently. Bin Laden is speaking from a lectern and he talks about threats to the United States and he says that President Bush will not protect the American people Al-Jazeera said the tape deals with the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States and their consequences. While the announcer said the message was an audiotape, the station's Web site called it a video. The Qatari-based channel did not say how it had received the tape nor how it had concluded that it was authentic. The channel has previously received audio- and videotapes from people linked to Al Qaeda. FOX News' Bret Baier, Ian McCaleb, Anna Persky and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

I wrote Brett Bair, should be Baier but either way. The tape has been confirmed by the intelligence community a little while ago.

***Looks Like bin laden is endorsing Kerry***

EXACTLY! If Bin Laden doesn't want Bush, then he wants Kerry. Obviously, he believes Kerry would be more sympathetic to having Americans blown to bits.

Don't know if it will work to put in Kerry, but if it does, chalk it up to the "genius" Rove who decided long ago to not explain anything about the workings of the WOT, and foreign duplicities.

You are, without doubt, the most pessimistic, negative poster on this forum.

You seem not to know that terrorism works FOR Bush, and against Kerry.

All Kerry can say is "See, we haven't gotten bin Laden." Bush can point out that bin Laden is essentially using Kerry talking points.

Then, Bush can ask this question: "Who do you think bin Laden wants in the White House for the next four years?"

You are worried about bin Laden. For goodness sakes we have a major war going on around the world and you are worried about one man, when we have already killed thousands of his followers. Yes, go ahead and elect John Kerry and let the United Nations fight the war on terror. Given three more years with thinking like yours and you won't have a worry in the world. You won't have a head either!! A vote for John Kerry is a vote for your own doom.

What about a "November Surprise!"?

Americans wake up to Monday morning news reporting that Usama bin Laden has been captured by U.S. and coalition forces.

The news couldn't get much better than that before the election.

Hitler survived almost to the very end of WW2. In fact he rejoiced and thanked God when Roosevelt died. Bin Laden, or who ever is controlling him, is simply trying to manipulate the American electorate. Remember the Spanish election. Are we a better people than those who caved (no pun intended) to the terrorists and elected a Socialist president of Spain, or our we as weak minded and weak spirited as the once great Spanish nation?

"It never occurred to us that the commander in chief of the country (Bush) would leave 50,000 citizens in the two towers to face those horrors alone ... because he thought listening to a child discussing her goats was more important," bin Laden said, referring to Bush's visit to a school when the attack occurred. ---

Just damn. UBL is doing the Kerry Talking Points!

I'm John Kerry, and I approved this message!

I can't get into the mind of a dumb kerry voter so who knows what they're thinking. So this helps Bush since it's showing Americans he's still there...and wants to harm us.

From what has been translated and broadcast, I'd say that it is definitely anti-Bush. However, OBL also states specifically that Kerry cannot keep the American people safe either--only the American people can keep themselves safe.

It sounds to me that although he likes Bush less than Kerry, he doesn't like either one of them at all. He sounds like one of my neighbors.

I can't believe you guys think this is a plus for Kerry. The biggest terrorist in the world comes out for Kerry and you think that will help him? This puts it in the bag for Bush, make no mistake. Americans will not take a threat lying down and they will not vote the idiot into the white house. Remember how they responded on Sept 12? They will do the same now.

I'm not turning in my tagline yet, but according to the most recent AP story he said the following:
"Your security is not in the hands of (Democratic candidate John) Kerry or Bush or al-Qaida. Your security is in your own hands," bin Laden said.

"To the U.S. people, my talk is to you about the best way to avoid another disaster," he said. "I tell you: security is an important element of human life and free people do not give up their security."

"If Bush says we hate freedom, let him tell us why we didn't attack Sweden, for example. It is known that those who hate freedom do not have dignified souls, like those of the 19 blessed ones," he said, referring to the 19 hijackers.

"We fought you because we are free .. and want to regain freedom for our nation. As you undermine our security we undermine yours."

The image of bin Laden reading a statement was dramatically different from the few other videos of the al-Qaida leader that have emerged since the Sept. 11 attacks.

In the last videotape, issued Sept. 10, 2003, bin Laden is seen walking through rocky terrain with his top deputy Ayman al-Zawahri, both carrying automatic rifles. In a taped message issued at the same time, bin Laden praises the "great damage to the enemy" on Sept. 11 and mentions five hijackers by name.

Sounds like he's seen Fahrenheit 911 anyway.
