At the same time, I still believe we are in mortal peril from both our enemies abroad and those domestice enemies seeking to undermine our great Republic.
If Kerry wins...we will be in for an even harder time, but will have to cinch up our belts even tighter and move forward. God in Heaven never said the road would be easy or not fraught with danger.
I still believe that our nation is the home of tens of millions of very good, dedicated, Christian patriots...and despite all else, in the end that remnant will make the difference. As for today's news...here's my thoughts.
1st...about the OBL tape:
2nd, about the Major Pearson munitions story:
- It spouted the Kerry/Moore/DNC talking points, the American people will recognize this.
- It reminds people of 911 and they will naturally tend to rally around Bush...whom the polls consistently show has a big edge over Kerry in the War on Terror.
- it could have been a trigger for Al Quida operatives to act.
We shall see...in any case it will play on the American public to Bush's advantage...this is not Spain.
I still believe the war in Iraq is brilliant. it has given the opportunity for freedom to millions...millions who want it and who are training and sending their own sons to die beside our own in the fight. it has created a fly-trap for terrorists where they are being killed by the thousands...maybe the tens of thousands so they cannot train and come here to fight. it has strategically surrounded the largest supporter of terror in the region, Iran, with our forces to their south in the ocean, to their east in Aghanistan and to their west in iraq.
- It showed Kerry for what he is...a power hungry politician who is so oportunistic that he will attack and demean our soldiers and their CINC before the fact are in.
- It showed our forces have the munitions issue in hand as well as can be expected. They have destroyed over 400,000 TONS of munitions that our enemies would have if not for their professionalism.
Well...all of that was a mouthful. I am very optimistic about Tuesday...but committed to pressing forward in any case in the cause of liberty...and that means pressuring Bush to hold the line and make progress in areas where I feel he is delinquent in his second term.
This is in many respects the Left's last shot. They've been ratcheting themselves up for some very nasty business when they lose this next Tuesday. The ysee all of the sick utopian fantasies of power and control slipping away from them, and they can't stand it. It's their raison d'etre, and to lose sight of it is to lose every last vestige of what passes for their self-control.
We've got some grim work ahead of us.
Joanie, Thanks for the ping.
Cindy, Say HI to two of the best and brightest on FR.
Joanie and Jeff,
Great analysis by both of you.
It's only been in the last 72 hours that I have decided to vote for "W" again because I had been so angry over his domestic policies.
To paraquote another Freeper in a private email: "Our house is afire. A vote for Kerry throws gasoline on the fire. A vote for Bush adds some logs to the fire. Not as bad, but it doesn't help."
We have to hold all of our representatives to account or else it won't matter if we got gasoline or just wood. The house will be reduced to ashes in either case.
