"Arafat has dementia "

I guess this means he would be a good candidate for Kerry's intended administration.

Arafats condition should help Bush. He has been saying all along that Arafat could not be counted as a partner in peace with Israel. Clinto had Arafat to the white house MORE than any other foreign political figure and the result was Arafat got this idea that he could impose his will on Israel via the intafata. This will remove him from the equation and give a real CHANCE for a moderate palestinian to emerge and actually begin to control their people and put them on a path towards peace. I am not optomistic about this, but with Arafat in place, there was NO CHANCE, now this is at least some chance. This will help Bush imho

How convienent. Too sick to stand trial and if not too demented to understand and therefore unable to be tried. This reminds me of the Godfather character that avoided attacks on his life because everyone thought he was going to die soon anyways.

What a fitting way to die!

Long, slow, painful and out of his mind.

Too bad leukemia is treatable today - or can be delayed.

Actually, the dementia is an off shoot of the luekemia, and is a sign that the lukemia is in advanced stanges. Arafat is dying, and it cannot be reversed. he will be gone within a few months.

The palestinians basically killed him. The signs of his disease have been there for the last couple years, but they said it was the flu, stress, etc etc etc.

Had Arafat been diagnosed and put under treatment in his early stages, he would have been able to have a full recovery. Now, he is beyond medical help, other than being sedated and kept breathing for a while.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Some rumors I've seen say "AIDs"--wondering if they're trying to soften the terminology a bit?

Poor MSM and the Kerry camp. Between this story and the OBL tape, the news cycle for the next three days is being sucked up. It will be hard for even 60 minutes to try and throw this election now.

And everything coming out is centered around terrorism...Bush's strong suit.

They must be asking themselves "how does Rove do it?"

"Being called demented by the French has got to be near the very bottom of things that can happen to a person."

Wow, did you hit the nail on the head. :)

Being called demented by the French has got to be near the very bottom of things that can happen to a person.

Akin to being called "ugly" by Michael Moore, who just might be the ugliest man left on Earth when Arafat departs!

Believe it or not, Arafat has long been addicted to "Tom and Jerry" cartoons. Perhaps his dementia has existed far longer than was first apparent.

When Uganda's brutal dictator, Idi Amin Dada, was finally overthrown, inspectors discovered his bedroom closet stuffed with Ben and Jerry cartoon tapes.

In John Kerry's America.... Arafat would be cured through the miracles of embryonic stem cell research.

Too bad for him.
