Because you're too nice; the rest of us aren't; we've been played.
Please explain - Thanks
Anyone remember DITHF........
I'm not sure about being played, but I don't believe there was any real documentation to support these claims. Even if someone says something, it doesn't make it so. This could easily have backfired.
NavyChief says...
The information I posted about a former SECNAV and Kerry's Discharge was pulled at my request because I jumped the gun.
You couldn't believe the powerplay behind the scenes at this moment regarding this story.
You can call me many things (and probably will) -- I don't care.
This isn't my call anymore on how/where/when/why this story will come out.
I've been told/asked/cajoled whatever you wish to call it -- to stand down.
So, this Chief will STAND DOWN (for now).
That's all I have to say on the matter. If you want me to personally apologize to everyone -- so be it.

Mod Note::Deleted : Please note, the letter referred to has not been authenticated as of yet.
The unspecified letter seems to be the bone of contention.
I think the effort just had too many potential and rel snakes to deal with, and the cost was just too high.
Kerry's firewall has been 20 years in the making, and as people peeled back one layer of it, another emerged.
The legal implications were likely the layer that stopped them cold.
My sense is that the heart was there, but the legal expertise to navigate the firewall was not.
I am disappointed, but far from angry about this.
Because you're too nice; the rest of us aren't; we've been played.
What he's saying about pressure from above could be true but, I smell forthcoming book & speech tour hyping.
"we've been played."
I wouldn't be too sure about this.
There might be legitimate concern for a backlash at this late hour. Sounds like they are getting the wave off --- with the polls going Bush's way I am not sure this wouldn't be perceived as a late smear and backfire.
Tough call.
Although I've been keeping up on this, I would have felt better if John O'Neil was the one out front calling for action.
