Dear Teresa and John,
So sorry I missed you. I know you're busy trying to kick George W. Bush out the White House, the one mansion even Teresa can't buy. Just kidding, guys!
Seriously. I know security is not one of John's strong points. But you should probably have one of your hands ride out and fix the hole in the black cyclone fence that separates your farm from the steep hillside of Trillium Trail Park.
Don't get excited, Teresa. From what I saw during my hike in the public woods above Squaw Run Road, your fencing at Rosemont Farm is in better shape than California's. Especially down by the pond where John practices his windsurfing, where it's topped by that nasty barbed wire imported from East Germany.
But at the bottom of a narrow ravine by a creek there's an opening where a terrorist or a Republican dirty trickster could easily sneak in and trample your winter wheat crop or something.

The sports guy?
I thought that barbed wire was illegal, against code in Fox Chapel.
Grandfather clause in the zoning code.
The area used to be farmland before the upper crust began building their rural estates, country clubs and hunting lodges there. Lotsa old barbed wire around. My old neighborhood (a more typical middle-class development of homes) was once an old apple orchard. Getting scratched by some old barbed wire was a routine hazard for kids tromping through the woods. So was having Mom drag your butt to the doctor to get a tetanus booster. No big deal, but I still don't like needles poking into me.
Who? Steigerwald?
I don't know, for sure.
I suppose he's reported sports along with other assignments during his career.
I thought Steigerwald was a sports guy in Pittsburgh. Maybe I'm thinking of somebody with a similar name.
So maybe you're thinking about one of his siblings.
It's John I was thinking of. What a family!
Nah. The speed limit along Squaw Run Road through Trillium Trail is only 25 mph.
The Borough Police like to hang out there to hand out tickets.
And they're pretty strict about closing the park an hour after sunset.
NOT a good place to go "parking" with a date.
(I found THAT out the hard way when I was 17. Ordinance #47 ~ "loitering in a motor vehicle".)
