The reason that we haven't been attacked since 9/11 is the fear that American Muslims would be shown the door. They know that most red states would indeed remove the terrorist profile from their states soon after any attack.
Blue states, on the other hand, will be seen as regions that have shown a willingness to cut a deal with the terrorists by following bin Laden's instructions and the terrorists will believe that attacks in these states will bring these residents to their knees.
