Unfortunately, I fear you will be casting your pearls before swine.
Great job -- you told it like it is! Although there is a Proverb about casting pearls before swine, we still need to do what we can -- even if it is bound to fall on deaf years, you may have at least planted a seed.
Of course, don't expect any Christmas cards from 'the gang' after this! LOL!!
Outstanding, this is something that every liberal dem and moderate republican should read.
You are right, those who reject these argiments will do so by demeaning the author and the people we support, because they have no real rebuttal. Those are the idologues, they only care about power over others.
This is what one of our homeschooling families has been spamming our boards with...
>>I'm sure this will get many people riled up since the election is
around the corner, two days away, but since I believe so many people
who homeschool have done so because of religious beliefs, perhaps we
should look beyond divisive issues like abortion and stem-cell
research and look at whole platforms of political parties and ask
ourselves if we are being sold an accurate bill of goods or if
politicians and parties might just be pandering and using us and
abusing us based on just a few of these issues.
Many Christians go for George Bush believing he has some special
relationship with God and acting as if the Republican Party has some
lock on the religious, when most of the Democrats are also
religious. Today, many Republicans are looking at Bush and asking
if he really is an ideal example of Christian values with what might
appear to be an unjust war (it is unjust in my mind with no
connection to 9-11, and no WMDs), with a current estimate of 100,000
civilian dead and with double standards that has caused the rest of
the world to look at us as villains and not saviors. They also look
at things like Bush' pushing of the death penalty, blatant disregard
for the environment and overzealous attention to the wealthy rather
than the man on the street.
I jumped into politics myself after looking at all this talk of
opportunity, after I did everything right, and with a boatload of
school and a good head on my shoulders, found myself standing in
line with many other educated men and women looking at no real
future presenting much more than an opportunity to work low wage
jobs with no benefits. This is more common in America than you may
think if you've not found yourself in this position recently. On
the campaign trail I found it everywhere I went, but I can tell you
the poor as a general rule do not vote and so their voices are not
heard.
Every teacher I met hated George Bush's "No Child Left Behind" by
the way. I did not find one teacher who thought it was any more
than a joke and way to pull money from their school districts
Anyway
we homeschool because we believe our children will get the
special treatment and attention we can rest assured they will not
get in their "regular" public schools
Since I'm pretty good at getting people riled up and I believe that
we need to use some good sense going into this election, if you go
to www.democracyformichigan.com I have listed probably a dozen
sites that are full of Republican crossover voters for John Kerry
and they are worth a look if you have the extra time. There is also
a letter that appeared as an op-ed piece from the Dean of the
College of arts and letters for Notre Dame that begs to ask which
platform serves Christian Values better.
Especially interesting for me is the fact that here in Michigan our
own ex-Republican governor William Milliken is supporting John Kerry
and the Errol Morris ads are especially good. Regardless of all
this, don't beat up on my wife for my political rambling here
but I
think this is important and you can come out and question me for the
next election. I think the numbers show Kerry has Michigan, but
this is worth some food for thought and these sites worth sending to
your conservative friends. I often wonder if Jesus were alive today
whose policies he might believe more righteous and I certainly don't
believe he would forget the downtrodden as we seem to have<<
I will reply with yours!!!
Great stuff, give'em hell Harry!
Oh yeah, forgot: please keep us updated with any replies you can get.
Yeah---also, the Mondale comment was because we saw the Mondale debate from 84 the other day on CSpan. Amazing--Mondale kept saying he'd fight a smarter cold war. It was just like Kerry was imitating Mondales performance... right down to promising to raise taxes...

The Pennsylvania Gazette
HARTFORD, September 23.
Last Wednesday afternoon, a large company of able bodied men came to town (on horseback) from the eastern parts of this government, and informed those who were willing to join them, that they were on their way to New Haven, to demand of the stamp officer of this colony to resign his office, that a number of their companions, were gone on the lower roads, and that they had all agreed to rendezvous at Branford, the next day (Thursday) and that they should tarry in town that night; they then dispersed to different parts of the town for lodging. In the evening, advice was received, that Mr. Ingersoll was on the road to this place, that he would be in town the next day, and that he intended to apply to the assembly for their protection; and it being conjectured, that he might come to town in the night, to shun the mob (who he had heard were on their way to pay him a visit) it was agreed that a watch should patrol the streets all night, to prevent his coming in unnoticed, but they made no discoveries.
On Thursday morning, the whole body, including a considerable number from this town, set off, on their intended expedition, and in about an hour met Mr. Ingersoll, at the lower end of Weathersfield, and let him know their business; he at first refused to comply, but it was insisted upon, that he should resign his office of stamp master, so disagreeable to his countrymen; after many proposals, he delivered the resignation mentioned below, which he read himself in the hearing of the whole company; he was then desired to pronounce the words, LIBERTY AND PROPERTY, three times, which having done, the whole body gave three huzzas; Mr. Ingersoll then went into a tavern, and dined with several of the company.
After dinner the company told Mr. Ingersoll, as he was bound to Hartford, they would escort him there, which they did, to the number of almost 500 persons on horseback. After they arrived in town, Mr. Ingersoll again read his resignation in public, when three huzzas more were given, and the whole company immediately dispersed without making the least disturbance.

If anybody shoots back with the Vietnam routine you might
remind them that in 1992 Kerry defended draft-dodger Clin-
ton on the floor of the Senate. He said that the Vietnam
era was divisive and didn't have a place in a presidential
campaign. Now that Kerry is the candidate he won't shut
his mouth about Nam.
good, I hope Senator Kerry has the same success as Senator Mondale ;}
ROTFL.
I built a gas grill in my living room while watching my daughter who was about the same age and who happened to have some minor illness at the time, as I recall.
She's ten going on twenty now, and nobody got blown up by the grill, which lasted until year before last when most of it just plain rusted out.
To this day, I cite this event as proof of my mechanical aptitude.
I am amazed at how many people are putting stock in the outcome of a football game and its relationship to a presidential election. Fox News reported this as if it were newsworthy. GROW UP people, this is the real world here.
Little girls are the greatest..... but what are you implying? That she's going to grow up?!?!?!? She'll be a baby forever, right?
Seriously... I recognize that she's not going to be a baby for long... that's why we have to have more!
The football thing is a basic statistical error. There haven't been that many presidential elections. To pick any time frame and find any 50/50 event that would correspond with another 50/50 event over maybe 15 events could be done with anything. You could probably predict what party would win the seat in some congressional district in Iowa based on the performance of a particular Japanese baseball team that year.... Just find any 2 events that match up... not that hard until its disproven...
As they say in the stock market--past results are no guarantees of future sucess...
Funny, it occurred to me that Kerry is just McGovern without the clarity.
It's great but it's too long. These people have an extremely short attention span; it's why they're democrats. They get their ideas off of MTV and bumper stickers. Still, good for you for trying.
Great read! Thanks for posting.
I have been recieving e-mails from friends like the ones you have recieved. My sister who is the articulate one in the family decided to fight back.
Here's what she had to say...

Another Freeper today pointed out that this nonsense was debunked in 1996 anyway. So much for the Keepers Of Odd Knowledge Society.
