Letter to my Annoying Liberal High School Friends
Myself | N/A | Me

Posted on 10/31/2004 5:53:49 PM PST by TorahTrueJew

I graduated from high school almost 10 years ago. There is a list of about 10 high school friends that have been e-mailing each other with snippets of updates on life since then. They have always sent annoying liberal political things (planned parenthood, gay-rights, and general liberalness), and I have never responded. After receiving my fifth e-mail in the last day about voting for John Kerry, I had it, and quickly wrote this up for them. It's no prize-winning essay, but a quick summary of why I could never possibly vote for John Kerry. Thought you freepers might enjoy it too, so I'm sharing it. Let me know what you think!

To: High School Friends From: Me

I have to weigh in,

It terrifies me how the young lemmings of my generation have for some odd reason embraced Kerry. Here are the reasons why I could never vote for John Kerry:

1) Voted against the partial birth abortion ban. This horrifying act entails birthing a baby until only the head is still within the birth canal, and then piercing the skull and sucking out the brains. There is no medical reason to ever do this. At the point the baby is 90% born, there is no advantage to the mother by killing the baby. There are currently 1.3 million parents on waiting lists waiting to adopt babies in this country. Killing a baby who is 90% born is cold blooded murder.

2) Voted against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act. When a partial birth abortion fails and the baby is born alive (about 1000 times a year), the abortion "doctor" does one of two things. He strangles the baby with his bare hands, or just leaves the baby in a utility closet to scream to death. The act demands that they bring the baby to a neonatal unit. Abortion doctors (Bernard Nathanson, the father of the abortion movement who became prolife) have testified of the irony--some hospitals have teams waiting for a child to be born to rush them to the incubator, while in the next room, a child of the same development is being carefully killed so they won't be born alive. Having a child myself, I cannot picture the absolute torment the child must go through as they dehydrate and starve/scream to death. How could a feeling person vote against this act?

3) Trying to socialize medicine. I saw a great quote the other day, "Think healthcare is expensive now? Wait until it's free". Not a single country has socialized its medicine successfully. All that happens is most hard working middle class people are forced into the socialized system while the wealthy (namely the heads of the democratic party) can always afford the best care. John Kerry said he wasn't forcing you to be on his federal plan, and that you'd be free to pay 80% more for a private plan. He is describing all socialized countries, where doctors are not permitted to change professions, the best talent leaves, and only the richest don't have to wait for life saving medical care. I could go on, but needless to say socialized systems have never worked. Bush has the best solution to the healthcare crisis today--healthcare savings accounts. Bring some free market competition into all healthcare, and prices will plummet like they have for laser eye surgery and for cosmetic surgery.

On a personal note, a socialized system by definition must assign priorities, decide who will live and who will die. My wife has an endocrine disorder and requires weekly tests while pregnant to monitor her calcium levels. If the system was socialized (like Israel or Canada), her tests would be limited as long as a government bureaucrat thought that they were not necessary. And we might be told that neonatal care wouldn't be covered once we had our allotted "two children". It's not far-fetched. China refuses medical care to anyone having more than 1 baby which is why female children are generally killed at birth so that the one baby can be male. The result? A nation where men outnumber women 10:1.

4) Keeping the social security status quo. Bush will keep the system the same for now, but allow our generation to actually save for the future. 14% of my income goes into a pot that I may never see, and even if I do, it will fail to keep up with inflation and my heirs will never see it. A worker on minimum wage his whole life, who worked his entire life and put what he puts now into social security into even an index fund would be a millionaire in 40 years. And his heirs could inherit his millions. Instead of a country where only rich heiresses and those who marry them can be rich--everybody could be rich. The dream of America is to have a place where your hard work can pay off. Not to see all your hard work be given as table scraps to others.

5) American security. The obvious. Assam the American said it best. For decades America has been at fault to the Arab world, according to him. Decades includes both Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter. But for some reason, al Qaeda wants Bush defeated. Why would that be? Because Kerry has said that American soldiers should only die for the sake of the UN, not for the sake of US Security. Because Kerry has allied himself with France and Germany, countries that were in the pocket of Sadam through the oil-for-food program. Because Kerry did not just protest the Vietnam war--he allied himself with the North Vietnamese and became a voice to their propaganda. He voted for a nuclear freeze during the Cold War. He was even against the first gulf war when even the UN supported it. He envisions the return to terrorism being a nuisance?!? Like when 200 marines died? Like when they were just failing to bomb the world trade center? He says he will respond to every attack. One more attack is one more attack too many.

6) For the Jews here, Kerry has allied himself with the UN--the most anti-semitic group existent today. He called the security fence a barrier to peace, but said it was necessary once Democratic strategists found out that such statements alienated Jewish voters, and that he had the Arab vote locked up no matter what he said. Bush has been the best president for Israel in recent memory.

7) The democratic party today has been taken over by the Michael Moore element. He is the equivalent of those elements who thought the Clintons hired people to kill Vince Foster. The difference? The Vince Foster theorists are denounced by most conservatives and republicans as nuts. Michael Moore's blatent lies are accepted as gospel truth by even mainstream democrats.

8) Kerry wants to ban all guns. If you look at his new assault weapons ban, he is really trying to ban just about every gun that could possibly be used for home or self-defense. The most dangerous cities in our country have the most restrictive gun laws, and cities where they relax gun laws allow private citizens to not only own but carry guns have seen their violent crime plummet. Criminals don't care about gun laws. They will either illegally get guns, or just use brute force to overpower weak prey. Philadelphia is a predominately democratic city and resisted the state's move to concealed carry of handguns. Recently, they adopted a plan like Richmond's project exile, allowing law abiding citizens to carry, but actually prosecuting existing gun laws against criminals. Result? Crime has plummeted when nothing else worked.

9) Crackdown on free speech. Campaign finance reform was one of the most evil infringements on first amendment rights of our time. Granted, it was supported by many misguided republicans, but the democrats want to take it further. While Soros pours millions into 527s of every sort, the Kerry campaign sees fit to sue some small group called the swift vets operating with just $100,000 to start. Threatens to sue Sinclair broadcasting for airing a documentary about Vietnam which Kerry chose not to participate in, just because it makes Kerry look bad? One Democrat even said regarding Sinclair that they better hope the Democrats don't win. Why? Because the FCC will yank their license? Will we see the return of the fairness doctrine? First, private groups are prohibited from placing ads, so only the liberal news media can publish stories before the election. Then the fairness doctrine will mean only government bureaucrats can decide what news media is even allowed to exist.

In short, I am terrified for the future and for my daughter. I envision a country where I cannot get medical care without justifying my need for it, where all my money is taxed away so I cannot pay for it myself, and where every decision for our security is run first by the UN. A country where we prey on the most innocent and helpless in society. Where corporate taxes get so high (like under FDR) that companies cannot afford to hire anymore, and where personal taxes are so high that I cannot go into business for myself? What's left to do? Work for the government. As company after company and industry after industry fails under the burdens of over-regulation and lawsuits, the government will take over to fill the void.

Please think about this, while you all get excited over voting for a man like John Kerry. I would hate to be right about all of these points---I would hate to be saying I told you so in 10 years. But I do just want a safe world for my daughter and future children to live in. Every aspect of John Kerry's platform supports a future where the US is a sitting target for terrorist attacks, and nobody can make it unless they are born into or marry to immense wealth. The rest of us (the real middle class) will be left to suffer.

Thanks for reading this far. I welcome responses and discussion. But please do not give me the typical "you're stupid", or "you're so dumb", or "George Bush is soooo dumb", or "what about Halliburton?" lines. They were old in 1984 when Mondale used them on Reagan, and they still don't answer the question.

It all sounds right to me. Obviously your liberal friends won't see it that way but you've got guts for trying.

Not yet... my wife (also a Freeper) and I keep checking our e-mail over and over... my guess is that the girls are all out getting abortions and the guys are out drinking themselves into oblivion and having gay sex (well, one of them is admittedly gay, so that's not far off)....

Unfortunately, Liberals are so self-centerd, an dcould care less about patriotism or orther Americans, they can only see their own self interest and within their own bubble of anti-Americanism (ero: John Kerry).

I hope that your letter did some good, but I have little hope.

Good job.

If you use it again, one slight contradiction - the "born alive infant protection act" refers to the victims of "ordinary" abortions who are born alive. No victim of a partial birth abortion is EVER born alive.

Go ahead and borrow it! I used to write for my college conservative newspaper, and I've written better, but if you like it, please use it! This was written in a few minutes while my 9 month old baby crawled back and forth over my legs trying to get to the laptop. Everytime she made it, I moved the laptop to the other side....

Please ping me with any replies you get if you do!

Growing up in the western foothills of Maine taught me that the RATs are everywhere in New England. You need Faith, Faith, Faith.

Then there is "Integerity, Integerity, Integrity".

what a loser.

In case you are curious, here are the e-mails that led up to it. Each is from a different friend. Notice how they just assume we all must be pulling for Kerry...

EMAIL 1:
Since 1936, there has been a relationship between the outcome of the
Presidential election and the outcome of the last Washington Redskins home
game prior to the election. When the Skins win, so does the incumbent.
But, when the Skins falter, the challenger wins.

Today, the Skins played at home and LOST to Green Bay 28 - 14. Let's see
what this means for Tuesday . . .

EMAIL 2:
Funny, I read your e-mail RIGHT after I checked the score on
washingtonpost.com. I wouldn't trust anything as sacred this year,
though...

Tonight for Halloween I am dressing up as President Bush. I have a
full-head mask, a flannel shirt and jeans, and a box bulging from inside my
shirt, between my shoulder blades. I'm also wearing a rainbow-colored Kerry
for President button. :)

Boo!

EMAIL 3:
i know we're all busy, but i wanted to really
encourage you to consider making at least 5 phone
calls today for john kerry.

http://calls.johnkerry.com/eblocks/index.mhtml

it's really stress free, as you are calling committed
democrats, and getting these people to attend get out
the vote efforts is going to make the difference in
this campaign. plus, it's sunday, so you can call for
free on your cell phones!! it's great to feel like we
can make a difference even if we're not in swing
states. PLEASE consider trying this today!!

EMAIL 4:
I've been making calls almost every night! I might even host or go to a phone party on Tuesday. It's so crazy in DC right now, tensions are so high, you can just feel it in the air. I'm just praying it all turns out ok.
