Before U.S. Poll, China Criticizes 'Bush Doctrine'

BEIJING (Reuters) - On the eve of the U.S. election, China criticized the "Bush doctrine" of pre-emptive strikes, said the Iraq war has destroyed the global anti-terror coalition and blamed arrogance for problems dogging the United States around the world.

In a strongly worded commentary, Qian Qichen, one of the main architects of China's foreign policy, said the United States was dreaming if it thought the 21st century was the "American century."

"The Iraq war has ... destroyed the hard-won global anti-terror coalition," Qian said in the article in the English-language China Daily newspaper.

"(It) has made the United States even more unpopular in the international community than its war in Vietnam ... The 21st century is not the 'American century'. That does not mean that the United States does not want the dream. Rather it is incapable of realizing the goal."

The searing article made no mention of Massachusetts Senator John Kerry, the Democratic Party's challenger to President Bush in Tuesday's presidential race.

Looks like China has now joined Yassar Arafat, Fidel Castro, Michael Moore and Usama bin laden in supporting the John Kerry for President team. They must want a "Fresh Start".

It's time to start smacking China back. The only reason their economy is growing is because Americans are buying the junk their cheap labour produces. Massive import duties on textiles imported from China will be a good start.

Are there any more dictators left who haven't implied that Kerry would be better than Bush?

Anything that pisses off the Communist Chinese has GOT to be a good thing for America.

Does anyone remember when Fidel Castro endorsed Jimmy Carter outright back in 1980?

"The Iraq war has ... destroyed the hard-won global anti-terror coalition," Qian said in the article in the English-language China Daily newspaper.

Well, Bush put the kibosh on exposing and amplifying the realities that France, Russia and China were on Saddam's dole, so whoever thought up that policy is to blame that such statements like these are reflexively balanced with info about the money they took.

Here's an October or November surpise for you China: After being briefed upon your nation's new tone toward the US, President Bush decides against waiting for the results of the election and launches a full force nuclear first strike on China killing over 1.4 billion Chinese in less than 15 minutes. When asked why, President Bush merely said "Why not?'." The President then went on to a huge electoral landslide.

Predictably, world opinion was extremely harsh, but America didn't give a damn.

Interesting, considering that there's another development in China that doesn't look good for the regime. I wonder if they're just trying to one-up France or if we're doing/not doing something that's making them nervous.

I was looking up some polling data the other day; found something that some here would find surprising (I didn't). Seventy three percent of Americans surveyed said that they would buy an American-made product even if it cost more, if given the choice.

If stores like Wal-Mart would highlight "Made in America" like they used to, it would make a huge difference. Of course, they won't, as their profit margins are HUGE on the junk from China.
