Bandwagon effect, I hope. I don't think ''complacency'' is in the Republican dictionary so close on the heels of Election 2000. The other upside is that the news will nudge a lot of the undecideds out there...folks naturally want to be on the side that wins.

Agree.

I joined FR (Check my stats) during the runup to the 2000 folly.

I am going to violate net etiquette and shout because I pray someone hears me:

PLEASE, FRIENDS!!! SPARE THE OPTIMISM! SOME OF US REMEMBER LAST TIME! This could be the FINAL BATTLE by the MSM!

PLEASE.

Thanks.

"Gillespie must be sychic, how does he know how many ballots were cast for President Bush, no ballots have been counted"

Its a trick. When pollsters call voters they ask them if they have already voted and who they voted for.

Anybody who has an "Annoy the media, vote for Bush" has gotten a lot of mileage out of it.

Do you really think it's likely that Bush could win the popular vote but loose the Electoral College? I don't.

10 years ago in Ca, all of the early voters (absentee voters) were about 8% more towards (R)s than the final results.
But 10 years ago in Ca, more (R)s voted early than (D)s

I do believe these numbers are evenly from (R)s/ (D)s/ (I)s

Because they know who's voted. If a registered R votes, they are assuming it's for President Bush.

Nobody, and I mean, NOBODY is going to get complacent. That's in part what the 72-hour effort is all about.

They are doing exit polling of them the same way they do of regular voters.

Ever hear of exit polling? It's the same way they do on election night. Man, are you a crabcake.

<< Let me tell you what, I live in a blue state. There are four voters in my house. We would walk over hot coals to vote Republican tomorrow. >>

Ditto that for ours, and one already voted from abroad.

Has anybody seen any new polls for Florida, Ohio or any other battleground?

There are threads all over the forum on this...bottom line..based on polls released late this afternoon, Bush is up in both Florida and Ohio.

If he is up 8% of early voters, you have to remember not every state allows it.

Of the states that allow early voting, Bush won them 51 to 47 in 2000 (in the final, total count).

What this means is that Bush is beating his 2000 numbers by 4%...but we don't know how he performed with just early voters in 2000. My guess is they were probably split 50/50 then.

All in all, good news.

My opinion has long been--and only gets stronger with each passing minute---there is no way in hell any Bush voter is going to be complacent. They have had enough about Gore getting the danged "popular vote" and know it's because they maybe blew off voting that time because Bush had it in the bag, so they thought.

I don't think that is even a remote problem.

My problem with airing this is that it tells cheaters how much fraud they need to come up with.

Actually they do know. Ed was saying on one of the Radio shows (Hannity I think) that the early voting has to provide the persons info...so both parties can see who is voting. So they know exactly who is voting and based on that they are determining they have more people voting for them rather than against.

I disagree. Give us optimism, just not too much of it. If the polls for W were gloom and doom, FReepers and others here would generally take a fatalistic attitude that would be self fulfilling. On the other hand, too much optimism leads to complacency. No, some optimism with a touch of fear is what we need.

I agree with you.

Democrats consistently provide information/ disinformation. It makes life much harder for them, when we provide information BEFORE they are able to publish their disinformation.

We understand the necessity of voting, especially in this election. However, I must admit to being amazed at the level of enthusiasm and motivation among Bush supporters.

We aren't stupid. Give us the information. It motivates and enthuses us....

The Bush campaign BY LAW cannot have any cooperation between 527 groups and their team. Even a communication to them would be a media scandal.
