Putin our ally in the War on Terror?...Think again. As this article succinctly points out, Putin has been busying himself bringing back the old Soviet Union.

In addition, he and his KGB minions oppose us in the UN, sell weapons to our sworn enemies, build Iran's nuclear capability (!!!), sold Saddam explosives and then helped him smuggle out the same (and possibly WMD), provided Saddam's Baathists with night vision goggles, GPS-jamming equipement, and anti-tank missiles to kill our troops all the way up until Gulf War II started, they disrupt our alliances in Europe, build subs for the narco-terrorists (FARC) in Columbia, sell fighter planes and helicopters to the Communists in Venezuela...the list goes on and on. The question remains: Why on earth are we calling Putin's Russia an ally in the War on Terror?

"In other words, only Ceausescu would not have been eligible for employment there. Today, Romania still has the same president as in 1990"

Is the author trying to hint that maybe we shouldn't even be trusting Romania that much?

If they have had the same leader for almost 15 years, and they have the same scumbags working for their secret service, maybe Romania is just being used by the Soviets to gather military intelligence and technology transfers.

In the West, if Andropov is remembered at all, it is for his brutal suppression of political dissidence at home and for his role in planning the 1968 invasion of Czechoslovakia.

Andropov was also the honcho during the KAL 007 incident. No, it wasn't a James Bond movie. It was Soviet interceptors shooting down a Korean airliner (a loaded 747 if I remember right) near the southern Kamchatka peninsula. A Republican US Congressman was among the hundreds of casualties. Radio intercept sites in Japan recorded the matter-of-fact, laconic air chatter among the Russian pilots during the shootdown.

Relations weren't very good for a while after that. It's discouraging to hear Putin's toasting him, but then Stalin and Lenin are pretty bad role models too.

When he became President Putin disclosed: "when I was serving in the KGB in Germany, I always wore a cross under my shirt"

Since I believe him, I am willing to give him a break when it comes to governing Russia and dealing with the Muslim terrorists at this crucial time.

Thanks for this post; Mihai Pacepa writes an excellent article.

I concur with your assesment of Putin's "sovietisation", and have to wonder why the President is so eager to embrace him in this terror war. I hope the President wins a second term tomorrow, but he has a LOT of explaining to do.

SOMETHING IS WRONG HERE

I just read a similar article on RAPTURE READY which stated the following (approximately) and with which I fully concur.

Putin begins to seriously worry me. He's starting to strongly resemble the military commander of Gog, as Bible prophesy seems to show that a Russian will lead an army against Israel in the last battle we call Armageddon. If Russia moves to send any sort of military force to the region in order to balance Israeli military presence, I'd say it was something to be greatly concerned about! I can't see the events of Ezekiel 38 and 39 being played out before the Church is raptured off the planet.

Vladimir Putin looks more and more like a heavy-handed imitation of Yuri Andropov — does anyone still remember him? Andropov was that other KGB chairman who rose all the way up to the Kremlin throne, and who was also once my de facto boss.

Yes, by requiring the local legislatures to vote on his appointment, just like Italy and Britian (who by the way until recently appointed the mayor of London). So if Putin is evil for this, then our allies Italy and Britian are evil, then you must love France and Germany, since you would then sound like a democrat. And since you defend Islam, hell you must be a democrat, a liberal, etc.

and then helped him smuggle out the same (

Ummm get with the times propagandist. ABC proved it was there and DOD admitted they used it to blow up the 400,000 tons of other munitions. Your little troll snacks are getting stale. Gertz is a wind bag sensationalist and he's been proven at it again. Your support of that story does nothing but undermine Bush and the election. Just who's side are you on? As if I need to ask.

Putin has been playing the US and Britain against the EU and the Muslim world. Crafty and understandable, considering his background in the KGB.

With knowledge, we are forearmed. Putin is a world leader with whom we work...but not a "comrade" or friend.
