I don't know how you do it in Florida, but there's no way to early vote in Texas and then vote again on election day, unless you're carrying someone else's ID. The sign-in sheet already has your signature in the blank.
To be fair, I believe Bush spent Election Eve 2000 in Texas to make him look like a winner. But hopefully the campaign learned from that mistake, and I tend to agree with your comment.
I missed that.
My understanding was the media called the election for algore (in 2000) at 7:49PM EST. Thus, the polls in the Florida Panhandle, being on CST were open for another hour. Estimates range from 10K-18K voters did not vote in the Panhandle.
I work for an election department in Florida and I can tell you first hand, no one knows the results of any of those votes cast, whether early voting, absentee or at the polls until 7pm election night. Anyone telling you that is just giving you exit poll info which is people surveying the people after leaving the polls.
I work for an elections department in Florida and I can tell you first hand, there are no campaign personnel or any of the pollwatchers , solicitors, etc that are anywhere near any of our early voting votes or absentee ballots. All we can give out as information is what party the person who voted is--that does that mean if someone is a democrat, they voted democrat! This is a very loose assumption if that's what the media is promoting. No votes will be known until 7pm election night when the precincts start uploading the results.
all absentees are counted, unless a person did not complete the form correctly.
You Panhandle folks! DONT you DARE go home if they call that election for Bush tomorrow because of the time zones! VOTE!
Vote early and vote often.
Just pre-election jitters.
Minnesota is supposed to be a battleground state and we ran a better ground game than the Democrats did...but it may not be enough.
Polls closed at 7 PM EST in the east, 8 PM EST (7PM CST) in the WEST. 8 - 7:49 = 11 minutes (I think all nets did not agree until 7:52). Jeff Greenfield's book "Oh Waiter, One Order of Crow Please" is the best minute-by-minute account of how the nets screwed up all night long
Thanks for the heads-up...
