Remember 9/11
Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.
--George W. Bush Address to the US after hijack attacks on the US World Trade Centers and Pentagon, September 11, 2001
This was not an act of terrorism, but it was an act of WAR
--George W. Bush
What's the sense of sending $2 million missiles to hit a $10 tent that's empty?
--George W. Bush, private Oval Office meeting, September 13, 2001
War has been waged against us by stealth and deceit and murder. This nation is peaceful, but fierce when stirred to anger. This conflict was begun on the timing and terms of others. It will end in a way, and at an hour, of our choosing.
--George W. Bush, Speech at National Cathedral, September 14, 2001
"I can hear you. I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you. And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon."
President George W. Bush, September 14, 2001
"I know there are struggles ahead, and dangers to face. But this country will define our times, not be defined by them. As long as the United States of America is determined and strong, this will not be an age of terror; this will be an age of liberty, here and across the world."
President George W. Bush, September 20, 2001
"Time is passing. Yet, for the United States of America, there will be no forgetting September the 11th. We will remember every rescuer who died in honor. We will remember every family that lives in grief. We will remember the fire and ash, the last phone calls, the funerals of the children. "
President George W. Bush, November 11, 2001
A message to anyone thinking of voting for kerry
Amen.
I responded to an email I was forwarded tonight and wanted to share it with you all. Here's my response to an email with a mural of the fallen soldiers turned into a mural of George W..Disgusting..
As written earlier...
I guess Ill take the opportunity to perform a rebuttal.
Dont normally get too political but I have been overexposed up here in the Pacific Northwest with lunacy and this forwarded email gave me an opportunity to vent.
WARNING- GRAPHIC PICS attached:
A couple pretty graphic pics for all to see but what terrorists do IS graphic and shocking. Its of the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on those little innocent school children in Beslan, Russia.
A couple of the other pics are just topical given the political season and the latest complete Bin Laden tape transcript Ive read(that appears to have been edited for content by most media markets) I had to find some at least as shocking as the mural of heroes.
For thirty years terrorists have been hitting us a little here, a little there. About 800 Americans over my lifetime.
A couple here, 100 there. Over here. Over there.
On 9-11, they got real bold and tried for 50,000 in one fell swoop. They tried back in 93 for the same target. But only killed a handful- Read that again. Only killed a handful of Americans.
For once, regardless of party, a President in our country has stood up and said enough is enough.
And for three, almost four years, our country has been fighting these Islamists where they plot, plan, train and have safe harbor.
Over 3000 Al Qaeda caught, killed or captured in over 100 countries since 9-11! Not only in Afghanistan or Iraq- Pretty large coalition if you ask me. You cant tell me there wasnt Al Qaeda in Iraq when they were in all parts of our own country,Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Europe, Asia, etc, etc. All but in Iraq. Fascinating logic.
All in all, not bad numbers in three years when compared to almost zero in the thirty years previously. Taking the fight to them means they are running. Not us.
Our brave soldiers have been fighting our enemies where the scum live so our cities can be safe. Iraq has been awash of terrorists, calling in the whos who of terrorists to fight us infidels there. Seems to me thats just where we want them. Better there than in North Syracuse.
Im so thankful everyday that we have our bravest warriors fighting the terrorists. Those of us with big guns, bigger hearts and the firepower only America can provide.
Right now, its the soldiers fighting and defending us and that wasnt the case on 9-11.
The terrorists on that day attacked the innocent businessmen and women, unarmed flight attendants and pilots, and innocent school kids on the first day of school in Beslan, Russia.
You know, regardless of who wins tomorrow, know that we as a country, have made progress against the terrorists who attacked my home state on 9-11.
All branches of the military should be praised and recognized for fighting and defending our worthy cause- And we should recognize the great strain it puts on the military families, who they themselves make just as much sacrifice as their loved ones.
The brave fallen soldiers have given their life for the cause of Freedom. What a noble sacrifice. And it follows a long line of our bravest souls who gave that same sacrifice through the years. Those who fought and died in the Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Korea, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.. All wars to protect us. To secure Americans freedom and security..
My freedom, your freedom
Hell, even those 19 terrorists who flew the planes into our buildings had the same freedoms. And they used our own freedoms against us.
The freedom to worship or not.. to vote or not.. Freedom to follow your dreams or not.. Freedom to protest, or to support..
Freedom that the people in Afghanistan and Iraq had no point of reference but are now understanding. It wasnt easy for us and we are still a work in progress after 200 years.. Historical perspective has been lacking in this political discourse.
Living close to cities of Portland and Seattle, Ive seen first hand how dissent is possible and encouraged and managed. I realize how lucky we all are to live in a country that doesnt shut down peaceful dissent and in fact allows it, prepares for it, and budgets for it.
And depending on your perspective, our brave soldiers and military fight for your right to wave the flag just as much as they fight for your right to spit on it.
What a great country!!!!
Just a word of caution about the mural.
Lets be sure we dont use a milestone of soldier deaths to try to make political points.
My family was fortunate- my relative made it back safe and sound from Iraq. Other families werent as fortunate.
But they were fortunate to have a son, daughter, husband, wife, brother sister, who understood duty, honor, country, sacrifice and gave their life for a cause so righteous, it transcends 200 years of American history. Freedom, liberty, Justice.
I am not prowar- I am not antiwar. I am pro freedom..
And freedom isnt free. Those who wear the uniforms understand that. And I hope most of Americans understand that. If we havent taught that in our schools than shame on us.
Weve had our ancestors fight for it from the beginning of our countrys founding and we will have brave men and women fighting for it long after I am breathing.
Thank God we still make warriors and heroes like we used to.
I wont forget Nov 2nd
Hugs and Kisses
Dave
Yes, President Bush we do and will always remember that horrid day and how you rallied us with hope and a stand that we as Americans do NOT lie down. We do NOT give up and we will prevail. Let freedom ring on Nov 2, 2004. A vote for our way of life and our childrens heritage.
One last ping tonight
We will not tire. We will not falter. We will not fail.
...and we WILL NOT FORGET!
