Based on graphic on front page of USA Today:
Media (USA Today, NYT, SeeBS, ABC) and others are not only refusing to call Ohio with 100% in and 145,000 margin -- The same thing is happening in New Mexico:
New Mexico With 1% of vote out:
Bush 335,226 = + 11,636 Kerry 323,590 Nader 3,568 ------- Total 662,584 1% of total = 6,624
Bush is ahead 11,600and only appx 6,600 more votes possible?? If Kerry got them all Bush would still win by 5,000 votes.
Similar deal in Iowa.
As someone else said, they don't want to call ANY remaining state REGARDLESS of the vote because it would remove the possiblity that Kerry could win without Ohio, which is his "reason" for not conceding.
[in other words if Kerry can claim the possibility, however remote, of "running the table" he can rationalize hanging on till the media can spin up a "Florica in Ohio" lawyer mess.]
No way I am going to believe that they aren't coordinating this with the Kerry campaign!
The only two that have even made a pretense of fair coverage are Fox and NBC (Got to admit, I was surprised by NBC doing as well as it did. Maybe Brokow is trying to go out on his feet instead of on his knees like Dan Rather)
NBC which did call Ohio (I guess they didn't get the DNC Fax) now say they won't call any other state no matter what until Ohio is cleared up.

Don't forget Iowa. Bush won Iowa, NM, NV and Ohio
Bill Richardson promised to deliver NM (a la Jeb) and he's scrambling to make good on his effort.
I just fired off an E-Mail to FOX telling them that I was APPALLED at their coverage last night. Talk about DOOM AND GLOOM! They will have to win me back. I have watched their station for years and this was BY FAR the worse coverage of the Election of all stations I watched last night. I actually settled in with MSNBC and Chris Matthews (who I can't stand) because they were doing the best job. It's very telling that NONE of the stations will put Bush OVER THE TOP today. Talk about Media Bias!
forgot *sarcasm* tab. Geez, I'm still asleep.
Yep.
If they won't call Iowa, New Mexico, and Nevada, then why the hell have they called Minnesota, Michigan, Pennslyvania, or New Hampshire. All of those are very close or even closer than Ohio. UNBELIABLE!
None of the networks (especially Fox) want to go down in history as the first network to declare victory for Bush. If it's Fox, even though it's obvious now, they'll be the first target (BIAS! BIAS!) of all the Dem's vitriol. The lib networks aren't going to call it either, as long as there's one last iota of hope, no matter how small. No more states will be called by any network until/if Kerry concedes.
