What about Michael Reagan? He's got the name and the values.

We were just sitting around the living room - myself, my son, and his wife - discussing who the Republicans would run opposite Hillary Clinton. Condi Rice came immediately to mind; then the discussion was about who would run with her.

We pretty much settled on Tommy Franks, until the name of the ticket struck us...

I really want to support Rudi. I wish he wasn't pro-abortion.

---

Agreed. if not for that issue, I would vote for him in a heart beat.

"I love Santorum, but who was the last Republican Senator to win a Presidential election?

It's been a long time."

While I agree, what you're failing to realize is a Dem Senator may run too, Hillary, making your point irrelevant...

A Giuliani/Santorum ticket(in that order) will win in a landslide.

As sKerry just demonstrated, senators rarely make it as president. How many senators in the last 100 years have been elected president? I think we need to look to conservative governors. And don't say Romney - he only looks conservative to his home state of Massholes. To the rest of "fly over" country, he is pretty liberal.

Herman Cain
Rick Santorum
Bill Frist
Jeb Bush

Any combination of that group gets my vote. Any combination involving Rudy, Ahhnold, or some other dressed up lib will send my vote to the Constitution Party.

He is excellent, but I think it's the same story as Rice. I doubt he has the skills to hold such a high office.

Let's hope they are CONSERVATIVE faces. I can't hold my nose for Rudy or McCain...

I suspect Giuliani will easily win the nomination, and McCain will be dead before 2008 rolls around. The real decision is the VP. Since Giuliani is a yankee, he will need to pick a conservative southener, probably a governor.

Though Pawlenty/Giuliani is a close second for most likely outcome.

The country is pro-abortion. It's true and I don't like it either. Rudy is the man for 2008----after he trounces Hillary's large behind for the senate in 2006, thus removing her from consideration for 2008.

1. Rudy is also very anti-gun. Between that and the abortion position, he doesn't stand a chance.

2. Hillary won't run in 2006. She won't risk a defeat, and will want to devote full time to running in '08.

3. Rudy won't run for President in the 1st 2 years of a Senate term. Either he'll be a Senator or he'll run for office.

Isn't he also pro-gay marriage? I wouldn't count on him to appoint conservative judges, either.

Frank Keating (no idea how to spell his last name) would make a good president/vice-president

Keep an eye on new Cabinet members. A big reason why the president won last night was the average voters' aversion to changing horses in midstream (i.e., during wartime).

Since Cheney isn't going to run, look for a member of the Cabinet who'll have direct responsibility for national security and/or foreign policy to end up being the "Bush candidate" in '08 who can, by proxy, march under the "continue the fight" banner.

Hint: Surely it's no coincidence that people keep mentioning Giuliani and the Cabinet, especially with this new "Intelligence Czar" position still unfilled.

Also, keep an eye on the new Homeland Security nominee, assuming Ridge steps down.

I respect Bayh, but I think he's too conservative for most Dems, so we probably won't face him.

Hey, there are a lot of us RED districts in Mass. And Romney's pro-life big time, pro death penalty, and pro 2nd amendment. Can't get much LESS liberal.
