It is with profound relief and gratitude to all the volunteers, voters, the Swift Vets for Truth, campaign staff, etc., that I type up today's edition of A Day in the Life of the Re-elected President Bush.
As we now know, Bush received more votes than any previous US president, America saw a record voter turnout, and the US Congress picked up votes to increase the GOP margin in both Houses. Mandate? YES!
Stocks surged Wednesday, with the Dow Jones industrials posting a triple-digit gain moments after the opening bell, as investors expressed relief following the election and victory for President Bush.
Some international reaction: Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday said an election victory by President Bush would strengthen the United States and benefit their countries.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island!!!!! We have successfully defended our beaches and borders, and our Coast Guard is commissioned to maintain its patrols for Four More Years!
The most votes of any President in history! The first President to get the majority of voters to pull that lever for him since his Dad in 1988.
And there is NO one who deserves it more! (But I'm sure he doesn't think that..........)
Thank you for these wonderful victory photos. We can be thankful that our country is led by this wonderful man who cares so much for our safety and well-being. The Bush family is extraordinarily good-looking and Laura is especially beautiful today. There is also great joy that the DOSE will continue!!
You could see it written on his face during his victory speech, and hear it in the way he thanked all those people who gave him hugs and prayed for him on the rope lines. The size of the crowds he drew during the last couple of months was massive, just massive, and they were filled with people who adore him as much as we do.
Idiot Republicans like Arlen Specter, who think they can diss this President now, will be in for a very rude awakening. I know Specter thinks he's catering to his constituents by being a Ted Kennedy knock-off, but if he forgets the 59+ million who voted for GWB, Arlen will do so at his political peril.
I'm ready to back up this great win with whatever it takes to browbeat the Senate into letting Dubya have his pick of judges, among other things.
They called the Kerry states early, even while the raw data showed 0% precincts reporting in several instances. They waited until very late to call Virginia, Florida, Nevada, New Mexico, Missouri, Mississippi, and several others for Bush. Now who the heck did they think was going to win Virgina and Mississippi, for example. The tooth fairy?!
What a great, great day!!!
that is Sam LeBlond with his arm around Jenna - he is Jenna's cousin. He is the son of Doro, the president's sister.
Well, we could always just wiretap them, catch them at it, and throw some ringleaders in the pokey. Say in a primary, with largely local things on the ballot. This isn't that hard to figure out, it just takes (1) a governing position and (2) some political will. And right now, we've got both.
Huge congratulations to the entire ohioWfan family.
Thank you! I was wondering who'd dare to sit so casually with their arm around the daughter of the most powerful man in the world :)
I wait with anticipation MSM's obligatory post-mortum articles on the Kerry Campaign. Can't wait to see how it was all Bush's fault.
Well it was actually. If Bush hadn't run a good campaign with Lee Atwater's clone at the helm, Kerry would be President. Hee-hee!
A lot of things are just sinking in for me too. Like the message of support America sent to our military! Like the message of support we sent to Iraqi's and our VietNam vets.
Ah, it's a great time to be alive.

Yes, I've just read about Spectre. I hope Frist just goes around him.

Did they offer any explanation for any of that? I mean, seriously, Mississippi??
When we finally went to bed (after waiting up an extra hour to watch the President go over the 270 mark), I was really upset with them.
I think I need to write an e-mail......
Oh....and thanks for the congrats! This victory for his Commander in Chief will likely help Eric decide what his future is in the military. :o)
Dr. Deb. You have another thank you coming from the Daily Dose, and that's for keeping us from panicking about the polls. It helped so much.
I missed the moment with Barney. Anyone happen to have a picture? Hmmmm? Pretty please with sugar on top?
Speaking of how the President thinks...did you catch the exchange betwee Shephard Smith and Jim Pinkerton this morning on Fox? The chattering classes always seem to have to embarrass themselves by, well, chattering.
Shep and the panel were speculating on what they thought GWB's 2nd term would look like. Pinkerton chimes in with, "Well, he'll want to start thinking about his legacy..." Shep got agitated and cut Jim off. Shep (to his considerable credit) asked Jim if he really saw the President that way. (I was thinking, "Pinkerton, GWB is not Bill Clinton, you dope.")
Jim said yes, because all presidents think of their legacy in their 2nd term. (I thought, "And just how do you know that? Did you talk to every 2-term president we've ever had to find out what they were thinking in their 2nd terms?") Once again, Shep cut him off and almost shouted that he didn't see the president like that. He saw the president as a regular guy who focuses on tasks to be done. I wish I could remember what Shep said, verbatim, because he was wonderful in this exchange.
Legacy, my butt. What our Dubya is worried about is doing his job to the best of his ability these next four years, then going home to his beloved Texas. (Maybe he's also worried about the boyfriends of his baby girls, too, a thought which makes me smile.)
There's Barney! Thanks!
Or when Osama's thugs come calling looking for red states, we could always give them directions to Philly. [snicker & grin]
One was already posted on FR a couple of hours ago. They hadn't quite gotten around to blaming the President yet, LOL!
How about this?
